As an adult, once I started to truly read and study the Bible as a whole (not bits and pieces), I started to believe differently.

While I'm sure the authors were inspired, as writers usually are, I don't believe that their motives were altruistic.
​
It is a religious text, written for the time of the authors to promote their religion and IMO it should be understood from that perspective.

At least two prayed for the mission before the Columbia took off.
