Why doesn't God do miracles today?
God does do miracles today through those that are faithful and believe on Him !

Re: Why doesn't God do miracles today?
The Lord will work thru anyone who is sincere, Yaro, yourself included. He works on behalf of the faith of those involved.
Maybe God is wanting to work thru you but you have never believed it! ...
long ago God set up Authority where man had dominion over the earth and could choose to do things their way or depend on Him, His Way.
Most times God has to intervene in people's lives for good things to be the end result. God waits for us to come to Him that good may be done, wisdom used, etc...

Re: Why doesn't God do miracles today?
If we say just 'believe in Him' it denotes intellectual belief. However if you have Spiritual experience you know that intellect itself won't get you anywhere. To 'believe on Him' implies full trust and dependance with the heart - which is what God is looking for before He will respond to you...

Re: Why doesn't God do miracles today?
If God just snapped His fingers and fixed everything no one would change their heart and attitude toward greed, malice, violence, and usery of others, etc...
You have a different attitude than most others, your statements reflect it. You see God has set things right in the past but the 'human nature factor' keeps destroying what God wants to do. God gave us ability to 'create' and 'will' to act for His ways or our own. We were created in His image... We are spirit in a physical body and if we move in harmony with His Will, our life will have fulfillment of purpose, for us and others. If we choose what we want... it doesn't work out because it conflicts with what others want for themselves... The example of starving children is a good one because I believe there is the means to feed everybody on the planet.

Agreed!
Since I am new and not familiar with proceedures, perhaps someone else could do what needs to be done.

'Miracles' are happening ... regularly.
What makes you think the same type of works of the Spirit of God and communication with Jesus thru the Spirit aren't going on today?

lfen:
That's good you are open, though I won't go there on the subject of "a lot of communication going on ...". There are a great many types of spirits that exist on the spiritual plane...
However, Isn't it a great miracle if someone is healed who has a terminal illness the medical profession can't fix? When this person goes back to the doctor who re-tests and can't explain why there is now no sign of the illness, Isn't that miraculous? If God actually 'spoke' and brought the world into being, can He not also stop the world for a day... (in whatever manner it took place)

OH ... So you believe nothing exists beyond us in the here and now.
Everything that happens supernaturally is simply our abilities playing a role.
You should watch the series show, 'Unexplained Mysteries'. It's not a religious show, ... they examine evidence.
I'm sure Dr. Weil writes a good story giving theories on how these things take place, but what evidence substantiates that these phenomenon are a result of what he says. Have you examined the evidence of claims for yourself to see if they are true?
... It is said that most people go thru life acting as sheep, that is they believe something because it seems a good idea to them but without substantiating what they believe. Do you do that?

Re: 'Miracles' are happening ... regularly.
Hi 1.6803...
My comment as to God stopping the world has to based on the premise that you believe the spirit world exists around us. 'Believe' is not to say you make it up in your mind but that you come to acknowledge what you previously were ignorant of or refused to agree was true, and now agree that it is so!
The coordinates are right around you, but you need spiritual enablement to 'see' it.
Now the evidence can be given if you want it!!!
If I say to you that a certain type of mushroom grows in certain places and describe these types of places, would you go look to see for yourself?
If I give places where you may look for this evidence and find it, will you go look for yourself?

'Believe"
Sidelined - very good points!!!
First ... yes I live in paradise, at least on this side of heaven.
Next; You can 'believe' any fantasy you want, the power of our perceptions shapes what decsions we make in life. They better be real or your life will be a waste and empty at the end. ('What have I lived for?')
I am using & showing the use in the Bible, 'Believe' as a trust in something that there is evidence for and can be shown. Many religions are using 'blind faith' to manipulate people who want to see something easy to grasp in order to identify with their perceptions.
So I use the example of the unseen mushroom. I would only expect you to believe it if you could see some evidence of it's existence, the most obvious - if you went to a type of location I describe and after a bit of searching on your part saw one!
You are only to believe TRUTH, and truth has some evidence backing it up!!!
Perhaps you will visit here in the near future.

Ok - tea it is ... next year!
I'm impresssed ... all very good and practical points.
The difference is that 'object of belief'. Yes I agree that you cannot see God or other spirits any more than you can see the wind or gravity! You can however find evidence that the spiritual realm exists and that one of the many entities active in it is God, who is supreme in his position over the soup-bowl we exist in.
I'll tell you a secret; You can't really believe God exists without Him helping you. It is His Spirit that gives you understanding, so you must trust Him in order for Him to show Himself to you personally!
This is what your position is and I agree it seems contradictory.
The evidence can be found to show God as real to you. You then must take the next step to put trust in what you know to be real and true, God does the rest ... It is a relational trust from your heart in what you have come to have confidence in based on the evidence.

Re: 'Believe"

I am trying to show a slightly different perspective than that,
Let's see if I can get it this time...
Your trust in Him is what He responds to in revealing Himself to you. Of course you require evidence that He is there to trust in Him.
The evidence you search for doesn't require faith but a desire to find the truth. No faith required for something you can see for yourself! When the evidence shows the existence of what is true, then you put your trust in Him who the evidence shows is true.
At that point you must choose to put your trust in Him in order to go any further(that's your part). "... for anyone who comes to God must believe He exists and rewards those who earnestly seek Him."
I don't expect you to put the cart before the horse!
You assume I ski ... because I live in a ski resort, ah well I used to years ago before moving here. Sadly I don't partake in any of the recreational activities around here. I just enjoy working in the environment. We don't have to limit it to tea you know, we could have a beer...

Well there you go ... at least you're honest about it.
You know it's your choice, and God waits patiently by watching to see if you change your mind...
I like juice too!
