Eulogy for Buzz
What amazes me is why conservatives are ridiculed for attempting to preserve Schavio while many liberals want to save Buzz!
Its not like we are booting him on the street! Its simply that he sufficiently irritated and impeded the flow of ideas> I am sure that Buzz can e-mail Percy and that Buzz and only Buzz can change Percys mind. This is Percys boat and he is the Captain. Sometimes, Captains have to make tough decisions.
If I ever got booted, I would only ask that everyone remember me for the few good things that I said.
Buzz: God Bless you. Thanks for being one of the EvC contributers.
Do us all one favor and don't badmouth EvC...because we all are EvC and we respect you and care for you even if the Boss fired you!

Contracycle and Buzz
In my mind, the only difference in style betwen contra and Buzz( as opposed to ideology) Is that contra will rant a bit and then shut up and forget about it whereas Buzz never shuts up and by doing so impedes the flow of ideas. The guideline is that if you are shouted down, shut up and move on. Dont continue to whine and carry on...
Learn when to hold em and when to fold em....

Buzz, if you are reading this, consider with me how some of these liberals are willing to lay down their own posting privileges for YOU!?
Such a discussion board! The ones who staunchly argued against you are now defending your right to be clueless and annoying! Apparantly, here in your case the liberals are turning you into Ward Churchill!
In my last comments here in the Buzsaw Eulogy thread, I appeal to you, Buzsaw.
The people either could care less about you, in which case they should ignore you, OR they want to appeal on your behalf for you to come back, which leads to this post.
I respect authority, and EvC is not some sort of huge liberal commune! This is Percys boat, like I said before. Just because a respected chap like sidelined wants to tie his virtual self to some railroad track so as to stop the train and force the conductor to deal with the problem his way, (a strategy that liberals use which I dislike...they never bow to authority...probably why so many are atheists...) does not mean that we have to reinstate you!
Authority needs to be used occasionally. We simply cannot have a huge commune where everyone votes on everything now can we?
Or am I wrong? How many activists want to support Buzz?
Any more beside sidelined and Wiz?
Herewith a poll:
Vote yes-R to reinstate Buzz and restrict him to bootcamp.
Vote yes-F to reinstate Buzz fully...with all privileges restored.
Vote No to keep Buzz suspended and to move on.
My vote? Yes-R.
Keep in mind that this is still Percys forum, however. Boss, what do you think of all this? Care to vote?

I also vote this. But is Percy listening?
Percy always listens to you, Mike! I know that you also are a controversial kinda guy! I also have been around the net and have seen the style and substance of many other disscussion forums. There are few that have an interaction such as we have at EvC.
You know that I have always personally liked you, Mike! You don't need to prove anything to me. Buzz is not being picked on. He feels that he has something to prove to Percy. Perhaps so. Perhaps that is between them. The issue is this: Is this a moderated forum or is this an unrestricted free for all where anyone can post anything?
Buzz is no troll. He is intelligent. He is also a grumpy old man on a mission, and gosh darn it if anyone can shut him up!
Percy started this as a science forum. He has allowed Believers quite an unrestricted voice, and I DO know! If Buzz insists on a soapbox, perhaps he should start his own forum.
What impresses me is how Buzz opponents even defend his right to blather on. (I know...I don't give I.D. enough respect! Forgive me, Wiz!
Don't worry about Buzz. He knows we all love him (or ignore him, like Ned! ) He has told Percy that he does not want to come back. We will therefore not make a bigger deal out of this than it already is.
Wiz writes:
Hey Phatz, it's just the permanent suspension that confuses me. If he was not let back in for six months, then I think that would be a harsh and severe penalty. Or even a year, which is quite a long time. But permanent? *huh*
I suppose this strikes me as the equivalent of getting life in prison for stealing a potato.
We are not putting him in prison. We are kicking him out of the restaurant for being too noisy.
Besides...I have seen many who have been sentenced to long terms only to be reconsidered at later dates and times. Believe it when I say that Buzz has good chances to be reinstated around here. Just not entirely on his terms!
