how does your theory account for the widespread hybridization we find in nature?
If two species hybridize with reproductive offspring, they are subspecies. It is wrong to assume they are two species at the first place. Jianyi Zhang

I found this nicely made documentary, and I was wondering if any ToE experts could find any errors.

The Collapse of Darwinism This video is so very full of junk that we would enjoy a continued discussion of it. Take each bit that you think is the best part and describe it in your own words for further discussion. This message has been edited by NosyNed, 05-20-2005 01:41 AM

Thanks Ned, Ill check that thread out.
Do you know of any good ToE on-line documentaies from a mainstream science perspective? This message has been edited by Limbo, 05-20-2005 01:52 AM

Do you mean a video presentation? Not that I am aware of.
I don't think that is the best way to present something of that sort. If there are any I would think they would be like the PBS documentary of a year or two ago. Very, very light and not very informative.

-It's called mutation. The Nylong Bug is a good example of a frameshift mutation resulting in a new, surviving species. I'm sorry but I just can't help myself. The Nylon bug is an awful example. A) There is no documented frameshift mutation, only a hypothetical one based on a putative pre-existing open reading frame. B) It is pretty much nonsensical to talk about speciation in reference to a mutation contained on a bacterial plasmid. For a more detailed critique of the way the Nylon bug is abused as an example see the"Is the evidence concerning the Nylon bug being exaggerated" thread. TTFN, WK

Ned, thanks so much for the link! That has to be the funniest thing I've ever seen. In chapter one, when Darwin ("the amateur naturalist") is introduced, the images go all black and white, and sinister music appears in the background. It's just like America's most wanted, where the serial rapist appears. Brilliant!
Thanks! I'm sending this link around my lab immediately. Mick

I was intially put on edge, with the "ama" applelation but then I quickly recalled, that this IS Croizat's attitude towards Darwin(that Charles was a great observer but poor theorizer etc) as well as JZ's as he represents homogenously thoughout this threadheaded thread and presents in his book. Percy had warned us-all before.

I'll look into it closer. But the other points stand.

Ok, the main reasons that I think that the Darwin model is wrong are this;
1. Mathematics has proved that evolution cannot happen 2. The fossil record does not at all show evolution 3. Humans have always been aware of the existance of the supernatural realm: miracles(only through the power of the Biblical God, not wicca or anything else) prophecy(words direct from God), ect. I don't have time to say more right now, so, to be continued...

You will be eaten alive if you stay on this forum. Please leave immediately. Take it from a rank amateur paleontologist and evolutionist. You have been warned

I'm sure we are all eager to hear some new thoughts on these issues. It might be better for you to start off a new thread to discuss your views and evidences as this one only has less than a hundred posts to go before it reaches the limits for thread length.

Mr. Creationist,
In reply to your post, Wounded King said:
quote: I second that. But I would add that you'd do well to start by reading some threads first, because the title of your post suggests you are the gazillionth example of a creationist coming in with blazing guns, but with little apparent understanding of the mechanism of evolution. Without at least knowing the arguments of your future opponents, you will be eaten alive, as Futzman suggested. We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further. - Richard Dawkins

Well, I think I might start a new thread then. But I don't have a ton of time to read alot of posts, and there are alot! Maybe I don't have a good understanding of the way evolution works, if I don't then tell me.
On to the randomness thing, the chances of a human evolving have been calculated to be 1 in 10 to the two millionth power! Yes, you heard right, that is a huge number. It is well known that any chance above 1 in 10 to the 42 will never happen(or so they say) but certainly the chance of every kind of creature evolving by randomness and natural selection is way above that. The odds of just one single protien needed for life evolving are also above zero, not by much, but they are above it.

Well probability theory is an area I happen to be reasonably familiar with. If you believe that these calculations have any merit, perhaps you can start a thread to discuss them. Personally I doubt if they'll stand up to even a cursory examination.
