The hottest topic under Science is the Envoronment
Although a better sub forum heading under Scince would be: Earth and Climate (This covers the "global warming" debate, although I would not be adverse to a forum just to cover this HOT debate.) See examples of sub topics for SCIENCE: http://www.sciencedaily.com Edited by Richbee, : Corrections "All who wander are not lost." - J.R.R. Tolkein Richard B.

Hmmm, Global Change is another, and consider the many topics under this forum title:
[Yikes, now I'm in over my Head!] Global Change Topics Atmospheric Composition & Air PollutionBehavioral, Social, & Economic Dimensions Climate Variability & Change Coastal & Ocean Studies Ecosystems, Biodiversity, & Biogeochemistry Energy Resources & Use Environmental Technology & Transportation Global Carbon Cycle Global Water Cycle & Water Resources Human Health International Activities Land Use, Land Cover Change, & Agriculture Observations, Modeling, & Data Systems Solid Earth Sciences & Resources Sustainable Development Global Change at the National Academies http://dels.nas.edu/globalchange/topics.shtml Daniel Patrick Moynihan used to say “we are all entitled to our own opinions, but not to our own facts.” Richard B.

while some of these topics are interesting in themselves, the main purpose of this debate board is in the debate between "evolution" and "creation", and related topics.
hence, geology is relavent to the debate. bible study then is also relavent. global warming, global cooling, whether or not there are pink elephants in your toilet aren't really relavent. hence, the "coffee house" forum. granted, it could probably be broken into a couple of forums, but . . .

Yes, this is a very controversial topic. Aside from the EvC debates, the attribution of climate change to natural or anthropogenic causes is one of the hottest topics I've seen debates (and with the most hidden agendas).
In fact, I think there could even be a whole new forum for it. We just need a catchy title (like Creation vs Evolution is for this one). Edited by Doddy, : No reason given. Do you want two competing "camps"?
Quoting............ Lawrence Solomon, National Post Published: Friday, February 02, 2007 Tuesday, November 28, 2006 In the global warming debate, there are essentially two broad camps. One believes that the science is settled, that global warming is serious and man-made, and that urgent action must be taken to mitigate or prevent a future calamity. The other believes that the science is far from settled, that precious little is known about global warming or its likely effects, and that prudence dictates more research and caution before intervening massively in the economy. It's not that.
I was asking for some short, catchy names for those camps. A site called "those who believe that global warming is serious and man-made vs those who believe that precious little is known about global warming or its likely effects" doesn't quite have the ring to it that you need. EvC Forum provides specific forums for all topics related to the creation/evolution debate. The [forum=-14] forum is for all topics unrelated to the controversy.

How boring, and insensitive to the hottest issue on the Internet today!
Face it. The Creo - Evo clash of Religious camps is over. Yawn. Time to adapt! Daniel Patrick Moynihan used to say “we are all entitled to our own opinions, but not to our own facts.” Richard B.

I followed him around a bit yesterday and was dismayed, I see no reason not to leave it as indefinite.

On the other hand, boss, his OP suggestion on this thread has some merit (as I noted above) - although probably not for the reasons he thought. There are often good science-oriented threads, currently relegated to coffee house, that would benefit from the discussion constraints and evidential requirements of the other, more traditional EvC science threads. An "Other Science" forum not restricted to biology, physics and geology topics with direct bearing on evolution vs. creationism would be a nice site enhancement, IMO.

Being that this is the Evolution vs. Creationism forum, such an attitude really set me off. At the time I did the suspension, I wasn't really in contact with what this topic was about (in the "Suggestions and Questions" forum). In the context of this specific topic, his message probably wasn't that bad and my reaction was a bit extreme. Still..., in general, Richbee's presentations are highly problimatic. Adminnemooseus

If there is one key quality of a constructive contributor it is a willingness to accept and an ability to understand moderator feedback. Someone's standard mode of interaction isn't all that important if they're someone you can reason with. Randman would be a wonderful contributor to have in the main forums if he were just someone who when you said "cool it" he would just cool it. Richbee seems to be in the mold of Randman in being unmoderatable right out of the box, not an auspicious start, and we don't really need any more moderator headaches.
