Author | Topic: Creationism museum opens in Alberta | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

First we had the one in the US. Now, another one in Canada. I would not be surprised if many in different states and countries opened up over the next decade or so.
I think this is a good thing. A great thing. Long overdue. Not because all the science is perfect, any more than it might be for the evolution proponents, but, because children deserve faith.I plan to recommend both museums, and any more than spring up. Edited by keys, : No reason given.

My wife told me about this several days ago. Thanks for the reminder as I fogot to make a post about it!
CBC News = Creationism museum to open in Alberta keys writes: I think this is a good thing. A great thing. Long overdue. Do you also consider a museum that promotes the Flying Spagetti Monster also a "great thing" and "long overdue"?
Not because all the science is perfect, any more than it might be for the evolution proponents, but, because children deserve faith. Interesting that you would promote the museum on the grounds of a need for faith and not on the grounds that you feel a problem in science. If you have no problem with science, would it not be better to supply faith in some other method? Perhaps church or a theology class would be a better method of providing faith.
I would not be surprised if many in different states and countries opened up over the next decade or so. It would not suprise me at all. I find it sad that instead of progress things seem to be slipping backwards in the progress of science. With fights in court and the building of such museums I would not be suprised if my great grandchildren believe the Earth to be flat and illness is caused by evil spirits.

because children deserve faith. It appears that by 'faith' you mean lies. TTFN, WK

keys,
Not because all the science is perfect, any more than it might be for the evolution proponents, but, because children deserve faith. Creationist "science" isn't just imperfect, it is contradicted by science, wheras evolution isn't. Children DESERVE not to be deluded by 4,000 year old middle-eastern pastoralist myths. keys writes: I think this is a good thing. A great thing. Long overdue. Welcome to EvC Keys! I was curious if you have fully considered the repercussions of such museums. I believe much more of this type of false witness would serve to humiliate, degrade, and ultimately marginalize Christianity in any nation as it is against both the religion as understood by the vast majority of theologians that have actually taken the time to study the Bible and of course the science that provides for economic prosperity and the common defense. I am personally witness to large amounts of young people in the upcoming generation of high school students so sick of being lied to they are rejecting the entire idea of Christianity and becoming pagans and atheists. IMHO museums such as these are an excellent way to drive people to throw out the baby Jesus with the false prophet ditchwater. Stick around here and read up, you may learn a lot more than the gospel according to Ken Ham.

Given that you don't specify what faith it is that children need, what would your thoughts be about the opening of a Hindu or Wiccan creationism museum in your country?

I would not be surprised if many in different states and countries opened up over the next decade or so. Puerto Rico has had one for many years already.
I think this is a good thing. A great thing. Long overdue. IT is not a good thing if it is based on lies.
because children deserve faith. Children deserve truth. If God is real, then they need to base their faith on truth, not lies, otherwise they will lose their faith when the obvious truth becomes apparent to them.

Do you also consider a museum that promotes the Flying Spaghetti Monster also a "great thing" and "long overdue"? I personally want to see how the flying spaghetti monster formed his wings, or how it is that he flys.

Not because all the science is perfect, any more than it might be for the evolution proponents, but, because children deserve faith. Faith is fine. But Biblical Creation is simply teaching lies and another fraud committed on the gullible Christian Cult of Ignorance. You have to wonder how long the Christian Cult of Ignorance will continue to applaud the con men for opening new places to take their money? Aslan is not a Tame Lion

I believe much more of this type of false witness would serve to humiliate, degrade, and ultimately marginalize Christianity in any nation... I think that the publicity linked to creationism museums would serve as a powerful tool in the fight against creationism. The more exposure that creationism gets, the worse it is going to look. Let's have creationism museums everywhere. Moose Professor, geology, Whatsamatta U Evolution - Changes in the environment, caused by the interactions of the components of the environment. "Do not meddle in the affairs of cats, for they are subtle and will piss on your computer." - Bruce Graham "The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness." - John Kenneth Galbraith "Nixon was a professional politician, and I despised everything he stood for ” but if he were running for president this year against the evil Bush-Cheney gang, I would happily vote for him." - Hunter S. Thompson "I know a little about a lot of things, and a lot about a few things, but I'm highly ignorant about everything." - Moose

I think keys just used the wrong word. I don't think he meant that the museum stuff was based on faith, but that what is observed there supports the Biblical account and the Christian faith.

I think you have that wrong, Moose. Likely there's some pretty convincing stuff going to show up in these museums which has yet not been seen by the public because the secularist museums tended to reject that evidence for their museums.

And you have proof of this vast secularist conspiracy? Edited by DrJones*, : No reason given. Just a monkey in a long line of kings. If "elitist" just means "not the dumbest motherfucker in the room", I'll be an elitist! *not an actual doctor

Likely there's some pretty convincing stuff going to show up in these museums... Maybe. But some pretty absurd stuff is also going to show up. You think that a scene showing dinosaurs and humans living together is going to get attention? I think it will, and the most prominent evidence of said having happened may well be The Flintstones and BC cartoons. Visiting these museums will be looked upon as something akin to visiting Fantasyland at Disneyland. Moose Edited by Minnemooseus, : Left a letter out of "Flintstones".
