'but I would say that it is doubtful that people would spontaneously begin believing in Jesus of Nazareth as their messiah if they had never heard of him.'
its funny but i heard a strange story of an nde yesterday , a boy aged 3 died and later came to life, later on he said he went to the light during death and Jesus was there, he told this to his mum and dad at the age of 4. he also said he was carried by a 'big white birdy' and told his dad not to worry he was in no pain because he said the child on the floor (him) was not him.i think he must have meant he had came out of his body. ok its a nice story and you may not believe it,but i thought id tell you as this deals with the question.also i didn't think a 4 year old would know about these things at that age.(no reason to lie).

oh and by the way the kid did die , even the doctors and parents agree on that one! or was he lying about that?
(at 3 i dont think i could even say Jesus, let alone come up with an nde that fits in with the other hundreds of cases)

sorry about my sentencing lol
i was trying to say that a little boy has no need to teach about Jesus or even mention him , let alone come up with an experience which agrees whith hundreds of other cases. (is that ok teach, lol)

'They are still in the process of determining fantasy from reality at those ages. '
fair enough i just thought it had something to do with the thread,as for the other 300 cases this doctor was talking about they can most definately not be explained away so easily, as they were adults.and if they were all lying then i find humans more bizarre than i previously did. (for what is their gain in these stories?)would you lie to fool someone for no reason ?

Re: Stories
'We need to understand that what we remember is not what happened anytime. It is a construction of our mind made and remade when we "recall" something. Under the conditions described and with the beliefs built into our culture I would expect some interesting stories but they don't constitute much in the way of evidence for anything. '
however how can you remember something from when you are dead?
the brain hallucinating is also a bit silly to me as i seen a case (was televised in the east ) of a man who came back to life after being dead for 24 hours, thousands were praying for him to come to life and eventually he did. also i remember how blue and cold he looked ,it took him ages to recooperate cos he was so stiff(not sexual innuendo lol)must go that ones put me in tears on the floor lol lol!!!!!!!!!

Re: Stories
'Sheesh, do you believe ANY outlandish story as long as it supports your preferred belief?'
no i dont and what can i say i didn't see it. i will lie if you want and pretend i didn't see it.
i'm udecided about the particular case ,its the number of cases that i believe there must be truth to.
i am not sure whether you will read this schraff you are so hard to grab hold of.

) Is the bible literal or figurative?
it is the truth figuratively and literally.THIS IS ONLY A PROBLEM WITH NON BELIEVERS.
') If literal, then science must be ignored and abandoned due to such conflicting accounts, such as the global flood, 6 day creation, special creation (humans), etc.'
no,we just have to look for the evidence of 1, special creation ,self evident! and 2, if we think it is literal (6 days)then what evidence do we look for. personally i think if God is able to make what is here then he is easily capable of six days.science does not disagree with the bible , your perceptions do!

sorry to but in but i have been reading and Crash seems quite a wise chap, he is reasonable and isn't up his own butt when admitting he could be wrong.
however Crash says he would like a personal visit from God,to be honest i dont think many get this , i have had no personal visit but there are 5 billion on the planet , i know how about coming in the flesh and establishing a word for everyone, hence the Messiah came.
