Oh just thought of something else, prostitution is legal here too. It's legal here, too, only with some restrictions on how you trade your business. Which leads to another suggestion for a tour title:
American Gigolos

Suddenly and inexplicably the noise of the crowd dropped to almost complete silence, and she turned to me and said very loudly in her quite posh voice: "What's a wanker?" Oh for the earth to open up and swallow me whole! You gotta love how naive older parents can be. I couldn't tell you the exact moment when the naive child supersedes the naivete of parents and the roles reverse, but it always happens. Yeah. My mother is 70 now and from a different era. I hope her bubble never bursts. I think even my young nieces and nephews have already reversed the naivity roles with her. Probably with me too!

That's what I figured. This is my local comedy pub. It's within walking distance of my house. Banana Cabaret. South London's finest. Cool room. I like that there's no stage.
Self deprecation goes down well here and is usually considered something Yanks are not very good at. Interesting. I've never heard that. I thought we were pretty good at it. I guess it depends on the bar one sets for self deprecation. - Oni

Maybe I'm behind the times, but I can't picture it being allowed on any publically displayed posters or billboards displayed outside clubs and pubs, for example. Really? I thought you guys were less restrictive than we are? Don't they curse on tv over there? In any case, I thought the name would be good for t-shirt sales and not some much as the name for the group or show. - Oni

Not in the UK they don't (or only after eleven o'clock or something). You can say 'fuck' after 9pm (the water shed). Can't rememeber if I've heard the word 'cunt' on TV, though.

What amazes me time and time again is when I hear an American go on about how he lives in the most free country on Earth. I'm always like "wow, we must be in space then." Although, I do like some of the aspects of your society better, or rather your constituion. I think seperation of church and state should be done more here. Just as an example, catholic or protestant or muslim schools get government funding over here. And while there is a curriculum that they should adhere too, I still find it weird why any religious school should get funding from the fovernment. Then again, of all my classmates that went to a catholic school, perhaps only two (that I know of) are still religious.

Yes, after 9 o'clock any words are allowed on TV, and there would be no problem at all with saying any words you like in your shows, and some newspapers and promotional publications will print any words. But "wank", great word as it is, is still considered to be a rude word, probably right up there with "cunt" and "fuck", and I'm quite sure you couldn't display any of those words on a public billboard. Don't want to put a dampner on the idea though, as you say, it would be a great T-shirt slogan and sub-title for your tour that you could display on t-shirts, promotional leaflets and probably inside your venues.

Simply place a modesty protecting asterisk on the publicity, who could possibly object to the 'Star Spangled W*nkers' . And I have heard it said that a nod is as good as a w*nk to a blind man.

JUC writes: Sorry to stick my fat oar in, but although I think it's a good title, would there not be some restrictions on where the word "Wankers" could be publicised? I don't know. I wouldn't have thought it that big a deal displayed in pubs and stuff. But the honest answer is that I don't know. But I have just seen Wounded's W*nkers suggestion and I think that is even better. Although I would have used a dollar sign to keep the Yank theme going "W$nkers"
"What's a wanker?" But dude seriously - Does your mum live in a cave or go to bed at 7:30 Pm everynight or something?
