Hi Quiz,
For J Smith to be a true prophet, he would be getting his "prophesies" from god, correct? This supposedly holds true for all his doctrines and covenents also? What do you have to say concerning D&C 132, described by J Smith as part of "the most holy and important doctrine ever revealed to man on earth" What happened to this "holy and important doctrine?" When did it become not "holy and important?"

Re: Apostasy of true teachings/true teachings
Thanks for a very interesting overview TL. Most of this I have heard before, but I think I will be looking up the book you mentioned.
One you might find interesting is "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer. It is mainly concerned with murders committed by members of one of the polygamous offshoots of the LDS church, but it has some fascinating background info on the church history.

Re: Critical thinking
In what way do you mean that Missouri had the most tragedy from the Civil War?

Re: Critical thinking
That is pretty vague.
lets look at deaths (battle deaths AND sickness) by state
Gun Reviews Archives | TheGunZone
Looks to me like every state had death, sickness and tragedy, and Missouri was in no way the worst.
You are going to have to be a lot less vague. Your statement could be turned around to mean just about anything.

Re: Critical thinking
Please do Quiz.
All I could find were death numbers, numbers of troops sent to fight and a site that stated that most "battles" actually fought IN Missouri were small skirmishes.
Missouri did have an issue with the Federal government, but how this translates to more tragedy than most, I don't know.

Re: Apostasy - post 15 - Rie
Quiz writes:
There are so far 2 theories which have many mechinisms that I know of: Macroevoltion and Microevolution. Macroevolution has Biogenisis, Acquired Characteristics, Mutation and Recombinations, as the mechinisms, and might I say that all mechinisms of macroevolution are still in a theoretical state and none of them are factual. Remember that I understand theory is not just a guess. Now their is also Microevolution which has, Natural Selection, Large Scale Phenotypic Changes, Sexual Selection, Genetic Drift, and a few others mechinisms that I didn't mention or may not know of.
This is the wrong forum to call you on the above paragraph, but so much is wrong with it that I believe it has to be addressed. I have copied this statement to the Micro and Macro Evolution thread on the Evolution forum. Maybe Quiz could join the discussion over there and have the problems with his statement addressed.
