We need to revise inheritance (not estate) taxes to prevent the continued growth of a "monied" class. Right, and you say you don't kowtow to socialist dogma? Your obvious hatred for a "monied" class speaks volumes.

Actually, that too is a long standing conservative position and even goes back to some of the very basic reasons the US exists.
I don't hate a monied class; I simply acknowledge that history has shown that the growth of a "monied class" leads to oppression, exploitation and eventually revolution.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

So, you do agree with a minimum annual income. You have already stated that money spent on good and services is the way to help the economy and the best source of that money is through government expenditure. If you really want to help the economy why not provide everyone with money to be able to own a 3 bedroom home in a nice neighborhood and 2 cars that are never more than 2 years old?
I see your provisos that should be done before everyone is given free cash though. For arguments sake, lets let those be done as well.

You have already stated that money spent on good and services is the way to help the economy and the best source of that money is through government expenditure. Well, no, I haven't said that.
If you really want to help the economy why not provide everyone with money to be able to own a 3 bedroom home in a nice neighborhood and 2 cars that are never more than 2 years old? But I see no reason to "help the economy" and really don't give a rats ass about "helping the economy" I'm not eve sure that phrase has any meaning. Go back and read what I actually write.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Coyote writes: Those profits that go into tax shelters are the result of socialists and their nasty tax schemes that are designed to tax the productive and spread the proceeds among the non-productive. The golden goose parable comes to mind. Every country on earth has taxation. All taxes tax the productive. Normally, people accept the need for taxation because they understand that it pays for the things that they need - security, health, education, roads and so on. That's not socialism - a word you seem to think is a swear word - it's just a sensible economic model which in principle I assume you are not apposing? Some countries have higher taxes than others so now that corporations can send their earnings to lower tax hideaways, they obviously do so (because that's the goal of capitalism - higher profits) and by doing it they exploit those that can't because domestic taxation must increase to pay for the deficit. It's not a function of socialism, it's a function of world economics and regulation is necessary to prevent the worst unfairnesses of it.Life, don't talk to me about life - Marvin the Paranoid Android

So you're against profit? Why don't you just leave and find a place where you're going to be happier? Might I suggest North Korea? I suspect the populace there has no benefit from profit at any level. Just stating a fact. The rich don't get rich by spending all of their money on employee wages. The idea that letting the rich keep more of their money will result in them hiring more people is a bit shortsighted. Whether this is good or bad is up to each person to decide.
And might have to find some productive line of work that would actually benefit the economy? Perhaps. At the same time, what can you produce that the unemployed will buy? Like I said, I am just stating the facts.
Aren't you aware that for every government employee there are several taxpayers supporting their salaries and benefits--and that by definition government is a drain on the economy rather than a benefit? How is government more of a drain on the economy than taking profit out of a company? This isn't a rhetorical question either, I am genuinely curious.
I'll make it very clear for you: more productive workers will benefit everyone, while more government parasites are a drain on the economy. How so? Edited by Taq, : No reason given.

Coyote writes: Aren't you aware that for every government employee there are several taxpayers supporting their salaries and benefits--and that by definition government is a drain on the economy rather than a benefit? Really? In most of the world's richest 30 countries more than 30% of GDP is spent by the government. It ranges up to 58% (Iceland) and they spend far more than the world average in percentage terms, and therefore, being rich, far far more in real terms. In other words, "big" government is more often associated with success and wealth rather than poverty. U.S. government spending is 38.9 % of GDP. If we look at your neighbours, Canada spends 39.7%, and Mexico a relatively low 23.7%.
Government spending Do you think that the U.S. and Canada should emulate Mexico? Wealthy countries in which government spending is less than 30% are generally unusual in their circumstances, like the eastern city-state trading ports Hong Kong and Singapore, or small enclaves with tiny populations swimming in huge oil fields, like Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Some very poor countries come out with strangely high percentages on the list above, like 97% and even 114%, but that's because the aid their governments receive from other countries can about equal or even exceed their own GDP! But generally speaking, poor countries have the "small" governments that you seem to think advantageous in wealth making.
Here's a per. capita wealth list.

Why Government Spending Does Nothing for Jobs
While most economists and policy makers are focusing on the International Monetary Fund’s epiphany on the perils of austerity, some researchers at the IMF have offered another take on the fiscal-policy debate. They found that less is more, even when it comes to the size and scope of government.

What a ridiculous and simplistically stupid article. Government finance is much more than just taking from one person to give to another. And anyone basing their understanding of government spending on a line-dancing video is obviously coming up short on real evidence to support their position. So again... Love your enemies!

Government finance is much more than just taking from one person to give to another. Not just taking, but taking by force--at the barrel of a gun. (Socialists just never learn!)

Have you ever had an original thought that didn't come directly, almost verbatim, from the hyperbole spewed at Fox News or worse yet, Drudge Report? Your political arguments are the shallowest arguments on this entire site. Yes, more so than Mabus' topics.
abe:
(Socialists just never learn!) Why do you continue to allude to socialists? Are you a) trying to slander someone by calling them a socialist or b) do you think anything not Coyote conservative automatically equals "SOCIALISM!!"? Here's a hint: no one is offended by being called a socialist except you and no one here is actually a socialist, nor has anyone put forth true socialist ideas. Helping those less fortunate is just the right thing to do, not socialism. be a part of society, not part of it's downfall.
