Hope the signatures keep building up.
The FBI looks totally incompetent today when they had the perfect opportunity to take Bundy into custody. FBI and Oregon standoff leaders begin negotiations to end refuge occupation Well it sounds like they are giving these insurrectionists enough rope to incriminate them for multiple crimes, which they seem willing to volunteer admission to committing. Destruction of national heritage artifacts can apparently now be added to the list of confirmed acts. But we'll have to see how the negotiations go. by our ability to understand Rebel☮American☆Zen☯Deist ... to learn ... to think ... to live ... to laugh ... to share. Note that Fish and Wildlife Service had a pretty good working relationship with 30 other ranchers near the refuge.

Has anyone noticed that there is pretty much no news on the occupation?
The last three articles were 1) the children of one of the protesters were taken by armed men from their grandparents 2) The governor asked for federal help 3) several days later, the governor complained about federal action, but said the feds asked her to keep her public comments to a miniumn.

Has anyone noticed that there is pretty much no news on the occupation? There have been stories but there really is not a lot of activity. Law enforcement has not taken advantage of numerous opportunities to make arrests. A couple days ago I read an article that put forth the idea that one reason that these buffoons have not been arrested in Burns is that there are a hundred or more armed badass nutjobs in town just hoping for a reason to have a shootout. These thugs are members of other militias and white supremacists who have been intimidating local area residents and seem to be here to be provocative. Another reason for restraint was that arresting Bundy might remove the only person who can keep things calm out at the refuge. There have been a number of open letters from groups who support the refuge published on the web condemning the occupation and the lack of any response by the FBI or other law enforcement and cataloging how valuable the refuge and public lands are. Two brothers started a fund that has raised more than $50,000 so far for organizations that the Bundys will hate. This was posted on facebook this evening by a guy named Les Zaitz who has been at the refuge observing what is going on: quote:He describes himself on facebook as Investigations editor (managing producer/watchdog) at The Oregonian. . This link has a pretty good list of stories covering the whole crazy mess Demands by Oregon standoff leaders defy logic and law, authorities say Some background on the criminals involved at the refuge Faces of the Malheur occupation: Meet the militants and their visitorsWhat if Eleanor Roosevelt had wings? -- Monty Python One important characteristic of a theory is that is has survived repeated attempts to falsify it. The only place I've heard of it at all is on EvC. Apparently in Canada a bunch of American whackos with guns isn't news.

It's getting to be as boring as basketball though. You can't single out any one basket/shooting. Only the overall score is worth noticing.
Until the shooting starts.

Yeah, but it's not every day you get a barrel of flaming dildos. The Canadian media is definitely remiss if they didn't cover that.

I thought fixation on the big payoff was just a US male thing. I do understand the Canadian struggle with basketball, though. Yeah, but it's not every day you get a barrel of flaming dildos. At first, I read that as a "barrel of flamingos" which isn't nearly as funny. ABE: Wow, my 1000th post. Do I get a prize? I do understand the Canadian struggle with basketball, though. They don't even hit each other with sticks. 'ceptin' those sticks mandated by Jesus when he said "Take up Lacrosse and follow me."Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Community meeting cancelled due to safety concerns. The town continues to be held ransom by armed cowards, Harney County Community Meeting Canceled Citing Public Safety
This is a good discussion of how the Bundy Bubbas are misusing the U.S. Constitution mixed with "natural law," Mormonism, and Christianity as justification for their unlawful activities. Amazingly they are supported by a few elected representatives, but they are not convincing many voters.
