Re: Republicans and El Paso: It's the liberals' fault!
I've heard it very explicitly acknowledged that the El Paso shooting was motivated by white nationalism so I don't get what you are hearing. Turning that into a rise in white nationalism, or linking all of us on the right with it is of course unwarranted. And of course I think that statistic is ridiculous. I'm not happy with "those clowns" myself but if it's a choice between them and Antifa or Sharia Law guess who I'm voting for.

Re: South and Central Americans
Sharia Law was of course merely meant as an example of an alien enough culture to make the point I wanted to make. A seemingly less alien example would be Catholicism, which is the culture of most of those peoples you list, and it really is alien if you have any sense at all of how different Catholic countries are from the Protestant countries of northern Europe, the UK and the US. And not in a desirable way. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

Re: South and Central Americans
Sigh. Of course, splitting hairs is always the scientific thing to do.

Re: South and Central Americans
I would expect you to say that, though, which is why I didn't make it my first example. It would take a lot of mustering to make the case why it is alien enough to totally undo the philosophical underpinnings of the United States. This is not particularly obvious because wherever Catholicism is not the whole society but part of a larger Protestant context it has a more Protestant character, but in fully Catholic countries, from what I've read about these things, they are as alien as you can get from our ways of thinking.

Re: South and Central Americans
Our way of thinking means our constitutional system, capitalism, freedom of religion and all the other freedoms and so on.
