The Whigs strongly opposed ter limits.
The Democrats pushed for the successful 1850 amendment which imposed term limits on all state office holders, including judges. And judges were forced to win elections, in the convention's decision. Democrats got an amendment which eliminated 3 day voting, and made election day just one voting day. (The reason was that those "wealthy Whigs" brought supporters to the polls on the second and 3rd day) The fight over the very calling of the convention in Kentucky was seen as an existential threat to the Whig party. Democrats got the convention and it set up the historic 1851 Kentucky election. The Whigs lost. The Democrats won. The Whigs fell apart. There went the pro Union party (as the Democrats accused them of being). Edited by LamarkNewAge, : No reason given.

But isn't the real issue the means by which Prussia's House of Hohenzollern unified Germany in 1871?

In Canada, we don't even have armed guards in the banks. The local banks I have been in here don't have guards either. I remember being surprised many years ago on my first trip to Bolivia that there were uniformed armed guards inside and outside at the supermarket (HyperMaxi). Banks had guards also, they unlocked the door to let us enter and locked it behind us, after they scrutinized our IDs. We got better exchange rates for our money at banks rather than with the scammers at the airport. What if Eleanor Roosevelt had wings? -- Monty Python One important characteristic of a theory is that is has survived repeated attempts to falsify it. The armed guard is obviously not going to shoot anybody. Here in our town, off-duty police usually fill these positions. The point is the need for authority. And it's not a guy with a loaf of bread or a store-bought bucket of chicken that they try and skip out paying for. Those people are not the problem.
The problem is the blatant thieves. Those who come in and boost laundry detergent and meat and expensive shampoos and medicines. Society has gotten out of control. This type of shoplifting needs to be put in check. Otherwise, you really will have some real-time scenarios from hell."A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." ~Mark Twain " *** “…far from science having buried God, not only do the results of science point towards his existence, but the scientific enterprise itself is validated by his existence.”- Dr.John Lennox “The whole war between the atheist and the theist comes down to this: the atheist believes a 'what' created the universe; the theist believes a 'who' created the universe.” “The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him.” — Leo Tolstoy, The Kingdom of God is Within You

Society has gotten out of control. This type of shoplifting needs to be put in check. What confuses me about your type of Christianity is that there's absolutely nothing Christian about it. You say Jesus talks to you - well actually you only ever say that you talk but he doesn't answer - can you honestly tell me that if he ever did talk he would say that putting armed guards in your shop and if not actually shooting them, then chucking these people in jail is his teaching?Je suis Charlie. Here you're working in the middle of one of the neediest neighborhoods in your area. Is there some issue with ministering to these folks? Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.Eschew obfuscation. Then the solution is NOT authority but Root Cause Mitigation. Fix the health care system. Fix the wealth divergence. Fix the education system. Fix the housing system. Fix the blatant White-Privilege disparity. Fix the legal system. Fix the policing system. Get rid of the engrained racism. Decrease authority. Make drugs legal and freely available through neighborhood health care centers. The theft isn't the problem. My Website: My Website

Shop lifting security must cost $100 billion per year.
Shop lifters would ruin every store if not for security. I once spent $100 , but accidentally took $6 in paper plates outside. I walked back in to pay. I know Walmart only makes about $2 for a $100 customer. They dont need to loose money on a a slime ball. If someone lets me inside their store, they should not be burnt over the allowance. Shoplifters hurt the image of poor people more than just about anything else. I have been preaching that for years. I go into Walmart and the Arab exit checkers (the majority in Lincoln, though it is probablyjust here)loudly say, "Sir, you can go", without checking my receipt and goods. They know I am honest. (The non-Arab white ladies do not trust me, though, but they are not at the checking area, typically. Their attitude tends to stink, with many exceptions.). (I just got complemented at a grocery store for returned items that I did not pay for. An employee remembered me from months ago) Arab employees seem to have a good attitude toward people. They will set your phone plan up on your phone while the old white miserable creatures will shout buyers out of sight. I dont complain EVER, but I thought about requesting that the Whites be banned from electronic department. Am I wrong?

I was trying to find, via google, an old Newsweek article, from September 20, 2001. It had to do with the "particularly urgent" warning that the Joint Chiefs of Staff got a day before the September 11, 2001 attacks. They cancelled their flight to New York on September 11. Hugh Shelton included.
I could not find anything. I attempted about 50 different search terms. (I remember the article said "Such a nice young man" about Muhammad Atta bringing coffee to his boss. The text then pointed out that Osama bin Laden was his boss) Nothing came close! So I attempted something that I have not tried in over a decade. I tried to get to Alex Jones's sites Info Wars and Prison Planet. He used to have entire article texts. I could not find that site either. Or any Jones' site. So I started searching for censorship key words. I found a Nov 30 2010 article which pointed out: That, in 2010, search engines were beginning to block Alex Jones' material from the engines. You Tube banned Alex Jones due to his uploading the Collateral Murder Wikileaks video, which showed 18 minutes of footage which recorded U.S. Apache helicopters shooting at Iraqi journalists. I think our constitution is already just a paper tiger. If it ever was a document about freedom from tyranny, then we have lost the right it once held (if the words ever meant anything). I suspect that the constitution always suffered from endless exclusions and exceptions, that rendered the text moot. (I did just find the article, from Sept 23, 2001, but my comments still stand about the rest) (Bush: "We're at war" is findable online, and it provides the precious research line, about the Sept 10 warning with cancelled flights on 9/11 that passed the fact checkers. A 2004 Chris Matthew's interview, of 9/11 widows, showed their anger at the 9/11 Commission for not addressing the flight warnings) I must edit to add that the censors have won the war over freedom of information and freedom for science & knowledge. So you have no problem with U.S. milirary shooting at Iraqi civilian journalists?
You just have a problem with video of the massacre leaking? And, if it miraculously leaks, then plug the leak, by banning freedom to distribute? (Kill journalists by the killing of free speech, if guns don't work, right?) Shoot every time, in every way possible, right? Take notice, world. These United States are a dangerous collective of dangerous people. You have all the ingredients for a dark age. A dark, dangerous age is fighting out of its nascent shell.
