Hey Mr. B.
I'm not sure why we would need a new forum. Wouldn't this kind of topic be appropriate for introduction into the existing Faith and Belief forum? EvC isn't an atheism/free-thinker board along the lines of IIDB.org, for instance, so IMO a new forum like that would tend to detract from what the board is supposed to be discussing: science vs nonsense. My ten kopeks.

quote: I am sure in your daily life you do many things that do not reflect the teaching of the christ of christianity...so I guess that means you are not a christian either. This type of logic is the hardest to fathom. Almost all christians wish to lay claim to the title of christian, yet each and every one of them think the other is not a "true" christian. It makes for a nice slippery substrate on which to base ones ethics and morality..."stole 20 bucks from a co worker..well I'm a true christian and he is not so who cares?" And if the person admits they did something wrong..."well, I am a christian but I am full of sin...but I am still a christian..unlike that other guy who also sinned but is not a true christian".

Hard to be a fundie in an ever progressing field. And if your mechanic is a dogmatic mechanic fundie and encounters a problem not found in their textbook, you can have my seat on the plane....as to the non violent fundamentalist christians...you will have to show me how those guys non-violently kill people at Planned Parenthood, or how they non-violently murder homosexuals, or non-violently go to war, all justified by their holy text. Not a "true" Christian eh? I guess there isn't a couple of billion Christians in the world after all. I suppose Buz doesn't agree with those who try to suggest that Christianity must be right because so many people believe in it.
How many 'true' Christians are there then? A couple of million? Geez, maybe the prophecies about it being world-wide and all aren't right after all since almost all of them are obviously not Christians afterall.

You know Ned, I never thought of this. You are a genius. Buz can no longer tout the number of Christians and the worldwide spread of Christianity as signs of its veracity, and yet disavow himself from those who are not "True Christians"
Either they are ALL Christian and Buz can't pick and choose which behaviors are right, Or very few are actually Christian and Buz can't brag about the scope of the religion. Asgara "Embrace the pain, spank your inner moppet, whatever....but get over it"

You could even take it a step further. If all of the "true" christians are not actually christians, then the religion is effectively extinct. It is the Esperanto of world religion according to buz. Also, all the "world will end tomorrow" guys were right. According to buz, the "true" christian world is gone and the prophesized second coming never occurred. I guess it makes the evolution vs. creation arguement largely irrelevant

Obviously it is slated as a parody of my thread about Darwinist ideology, which is why it takes word for word much of my post 1 of that thread, and which is why it contains no serious argument whatsoever about christianity.

quote:Your argumentation is pointless. There is a direct correlation between Christianity and genocide, and there exists no evidence to the contrary. None that I would consider valid, anyway. I finally read a review of the summary of that overview of the Bible, and I'm convinced that it only proves my point. The book is evidently full of judgmental language like 'sin,' 'condemn,' 'abomination,' and 'shepherd,' and lots of people die. Jesus himself said 'let the dead bury their dead,' which sounds like he advocated eugenics. regards,Esteban Nor Hambre

Maybe someday you will learn that it's inappropiate to make a joke of the history of the holocaust.

I know I know...it is shocking and completely out of character. Usually Syamsu responds with well thought out, well researched, and internally consistent posts backed up with reams of supporting references that give his responses such gripping coherency.

I guess you two have given up on trying to rebut my reinforced-steel-clad arguments concerning the genocidal nature of Christian ideology. Not surprising concerning neither of you have offered anything except limp-dick satire and shocking vitriol to counter my rational, realistic, and well-supported claims.

In response I ask you only this:
Which makes for better theology? Christ dying on the cross for sins, or Christ being redeemed on the cross for mankind? I realize this has nothing to do with what you said, and I don't plan to go into the relevance of this point, as it would be off-topic. But it should show how entrenched Christian Ideology has become, as long as you view the broader picture.
