I'm a Minnesota native.
I was living in Nevada, and at Yahoo, including the evolution/creation site the spawned , I went by the name nevadamoose.
When I moved back to Minnesota I tried changing my Yahoo name to minnesotamoose, or something like that. My new name choices had already been taken. I tried minnemoose, which was also already taken. Yahoo suggested (for uncertain reasons) that "us" be added to the name. I though it has a nice fake Latin sound to it, so I went with it - Thus minnemooseus.
When I joined I brought the Yahoo name along.

On misreading names
I think someone mentioned the same before - I usually read "Onifre" as "Onfire".
Likewise, I usually read "Cavediver" as "cadiver" (sic, aka "Cadaver").
Per my own name - It would seem to be correctly pronounced as "Minn-e-moose-us", but I pronounce it as "Minn-e-moos-e-us".
