no big deal
Am I thick? How can you manage simultaneous treatment when the treatment is down to the parents and they won't let the parents know if and when there is an outbreak?
Don't the parents see their children every day?
I believe the idea is for every parent to check their own kids heads regularly to prevent an out break and if I had young kids I would be checking mine own head too.
Lighten up a bit, Trixie, head lice are a natural phenomena and were around before they started pulling trees down to make the paper to inform the parents there are nits in school.
You know, the kids actually don't give a monkey's until parents, teachers, school authorities and the health dept, kick up.
We all had them when I was a kid. We always had bug shampoo and a bug comb. I still keep a bottle of bug shampoo because my grandkids get them and they generously pass them to me when we cuddle. No big deal.
Jeez my head's itchy.

what about the kids?
Your friend should have the girls hair cut instead of putting them through that distress. Your friend is creating that distress not the bugs or the school. Hair grows back you know, and when the girls are old enough and responsible enough they can have their hair any way they like.
There seems to be a lack of responsible decision making from what is in the best interests of the children.

Re: suck 'em up
An easy no-nonsense light-hearted approach would be the best solution. Sounds good to me.
It would certainly prevent a lot of pain, distress and money too. The kids probably would prefer it given the choice, but they are a bit young to make that decision.

Re: no big deal
I never had them as a kid and never heard of any outbreaks in any of the 18 years I went to school, plus four years of college.
I wonder why it is so rife where Trixie lives? We were poor working class in the U.K. but my neice in Australia is not poor, sends her kids to 'good' day care and still her kids get them. Where are you from?

Now, courtesy of these idiotic ideas, parents are being told that it is a stigma so it won't be announced in a letter. And this is their attempt at removing a stigma that was, until now, not a stigma!!! Sheesh!
A case of making a moutain out a molehill. Sod 'um Trixie. You parents sort it between yourselves.

Appearances can be deceptive. I've met some smart, articulate, well dressed, none smoking, none drinking arse holes.

Re: no big deal
Sorry for the following nitpick. "I" before "e" unless preceded by "c". For example, the daughter of your brother or sister is called and spelled "niece" while the word that means you getting something is called and spelled "receive".
Tell the truth, taz, you aren't sorry at all. you enjoyed every fuckin minute of it. Waht a clever boy you are. Is that what you wanted?

Re: (i before e department) But then there's weird
From the metaphysical and supernatural bullshit point of view, "w" could sometimes be viewed as the same as "c".
anyroad, i'll take tha bait and give you thr credit you deserve. what the fuk does "w" represent?

Thanks. Now if you could just give me a clue to what 'w' and 'c' actually represent within the context of your explanation, then I'm sure it will make sense to me. regards.

Re: no big deal
So it was rife in your neck of the woods too? It certainly isn't anything to do with wealth or cleanliness. Lice love clean hair too. I know how easily they can be transmitted but they mustn't have liked you
I actually think you are the first person I have come across who hasn't had the experience. Gotta go, my heads itchy

Re: no big deal
Well, no, I just told you that it wasn't common in my neck of the woods.
I only ever learned about it by a few people coming into my father's store (in a neighboring rural town) and getting their prescriptions filled.
You are still the only one I know who hasn't had the pleasure.
