First off, I do think you've had your character unnecessarily impugned in this thread, and I apologize to you for them.
However, I do have to disagree with this. The large riot due to the beauty contest that everyone is familiar ended with 20 churches and 8 mosques being burned; however, the churches were much smaller than the mosques and served less people each, so it was about even in terms of religious followers who had their place of worship burned.
It's unfair to pretend that Christians are somehow less violent worldwide. It's just not true. If you don't believe me, tell that to the victims of the Phalangists.

Hey, if it's on a site called Christian Persecution Information - ...never forgetting the Christians who are persecuted, it has to be balanced!
The number of churches and mosques destroyed was from the BBC. Want a link?
Furthermore... Reality check:
The Geopolitics of Oil: Nigeria
(IAGS is a global securty site, they give security updates)
Feb. 2000: 123 churches, 55 mosques destroyed. (no numbers available after that for churches and mosques)
Mosques tend to serve much larger numbers of people than churches, although I don't have *specific* numbers for this case.

Oh, please, don't denegrate a complex international conflict to "He Did It First!!!". That's children's logic. When you're both destroying each other's holy places, it's both of their faults.
If you're going to keep posting your Christian-only perspective articles, would you like me to cease showing unbiased articles, and show from Muslim-perspective sites? Somehow, I seriously doubt you would like that.

Wait, what are you trying to claim by this? Are you trying to claim that Muslim governments are more likely to have press restrictions or to harm their own people than Christian ones?

Gotta love that overriding influence of Islam on the world body, which has led to not a single resolution against Israel being inforced....
... but has led to dozens of resolutions against Islamic countries being inforced.
Sorry, try again.

Please, Buz - since you're such an expert on Islam, why don't you grace us with a summary of the Koran.

So you think those fatherless and motherless youths begging in streets, those penniless widows whose husbands and relatives have been butchered, those scores of parishioners whose churches have been burned and those multitudes being threatened with Islamic Shariea impositions, who wonder when their turn comes, are so ignorant as to be oblivious to the cloud of tyranny hanging over their heads, Crashfrog?
Nigeria is experiencing the escalation of ravaging civil war, which is not being waged in some obscure corner of the nation. Terrorism is ravaging the happless religious minorities of their largest cities.
While I don't have any sympathy on the front of Sharia (just as I wouldn't on a law that would make our legal system, for example, be based on the 10 Commandments or the laws of Leviticus), you can quite easily - and honestly - replace the word "church" with "mosque", and replace the Christian widows and youth with Muslim ones. You've refused to address the fact that the violence has been going both ways quite heavily, and that Christians have done just as atrocious things in this conflict as well.

Thank you - and I admit, I was a bit condescending with that response
I'll see you in the new thread!

War has been declared on our nation and war is being waged in response with all the unpleasantness it entails.
Are you talking about the war against al-Qaeda, the war against Afghanistan as a whole, the war against Iraq, or all of the above?
You know, it's kind of easy to forget, but both Iraq and the occupied territories have sizable Arab Christian populations. Who have been living for literally millenia without conflict. Our recent actions, however, have been heavily excaberating the conflict. For millenia, they used to live alongside their Jewish populations as well, in peace; the British occupation of Iraq, the Iraqi expulsion of its Jewish population, and the Israeli expulsion of many of the Palestinians in Israel/Palestine... well, we know what happened because of all of that. We must take extreme care to not cause the same thing again... we're already partway on that way. I know a friend who spent Christmas mass last year in Clock church in Baghdad... and everyone there was already starting to get edgy. I worry about them now, the situation can only be far worse.
