Well, Christians would argue otherwise. However I think an impartial obverver would conclude that Christianity has three gods. It's certainly no more monotheistic than Hinduism.
That's rather beside the point however. The point is that the god of the jews has none of these concepts in it. There is no trinitarian conception in Judaism.

What about a "light to the gentiles" in the Old Testament? Read Isaiah before saying such silly things about God.
What about the numerous OT books that show God forsaking his people BECAUSE of sin. All he wanted them to do is turn back to him. Have you read Hosea? The fact is - the muslim god Allah and their religion is different. There might be the same source but we cannot know for sure.

But that is a difference in worship, not the GOD. I will agree that Jews, Muslims and Christians have different perceptions of GOD.

You see why I find it so difficult in trusting a book(s)? Once a group of people decide on the One that they call god, then a debate ensues regarding the proper way to worship. And approach him/her/it. And how to pray, how many times; and all this from the same book.
Maybe I am under the delusion that god exists at all; I guess my only real option, so long as I'm interested, is to search him in the way that I 'feel' led. I have been talking to him, but not in a formalized manner; the same way that I talk to my other friends (just not out loud, unless I'm alone; otherwise I'll be put into a nicely padded room).

Hey, what matters is that you seek and clearly have an open mind, also - you have a picture of Einstein praying, what more could anyone ask?

Constitently, throughout the old testament, god condones the masacare, rape and murder of whole tribes of non-jews. There is nothing in the old testament suggesting that the jews are required, expected or encouraged to convert gentiles. It is quite clear that the jews are gods one-and-only chosen people and more important than any other.
Although I'll admit 'couldn't give a flying monkey-fuck' was a colourful exageration.

Hey, what matters is that you seek and clearly have an open mind Yeah, I was just looking for tips from other Deists, but I think it's going to be a lone pilgrimage. I will, however try to find boards that consists of Deists, so that I can at least keep in contact with people of like mind, even if it is in the form of posts or email.
you have a picture of Einstein praying, what more could anyone ask? lol - I was looking for an unusual avatar, and this one caught my eye. I am not sure if he is actually praying, but it does look like it.

GOD is not the BOOK or the Worship. God is not the liturgy or the service. God is not the temple or the building.
GOD is. We cannot place limits on GOD although most religions certainly try to do so. To say that GOD only cares for Christians, or Jews, or Hindus, or Deists or Theists or even that GOD hates Atheists is some human trying to place limits on GOD. As a Christian I believe that GOD asks three things of us. First, love GOD. The next is a two parter. Love thy neighbor as thyself. You must first love yourself. Then, you must love others just as much as you love yourself. GOD doesn't say love the Christian GOD or the Jewish GOD or the Muslim GOD or the Hindu GOD, GOD says "Love GOD". GOD says love yourself. GOD says love others. He does not say love Christians, or love Jews, or love everybody but Atheists, he says love others. So don't trust just in a BOOK. And don't get too hung up on the way to worship. And don't worry about approaching GOD. Just say howdy and offer to buy him a beer. That's really all he asks. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

It is quite clear that the jews are gods one-and-only chosen people and more important than any other. This is certainly not the case in the Jewish bible. If anything, in Leviticus God says strangers and sojourners should be welcomed if they want to live with the Jews, because the Jews were sojourners in the land of Egypt. God makes it clear how welcoming he is to ALL people, telling them to leave a leftover of their fruit (Jews) - for the stranger!

You are not alone here if you are Deist. I think a few here are on the same journey.
What do you think Einstein would be praying for? - Certainly not more brains.

I haven't read the jewish bible, I am led to believe it doesn't differ greatly from the old testament, is that correct?
Well, yeah, in a work as inconsistent and self-contradictory as the bible you're always going to be able to find passages that go against the central tenor of the work. However, it is a continuous and ongoing theme throughout the old testament that god favours and supports the jews - even unto genocide.

Allah is the GOD of Abraham and Isaac, the very same GOD of the Jews. If you look at Islam, there are really very few differences in either articles of faith, practice or belief.
