convincing her that Harry Potter is not actually satan...score!......... stripped her of all self confidence, then replaced it with selective bible teachings...
Hmmm......Harry Potter = good.....selective Bible teachings = bad. Not sounding good. Could you elaborate a bit on those troublesom Bible teachings?

Buz,
I appreciate your concern. However, I am now neither confused or in need of help.
I also said their "church friends", not the church, backs him. Please do not mis-quote me.
They (many church "friends" and "wise council"?) told her to stay in the marriage, knowing the abusive situation, and the instability of her Ex. She heard lots of quotes about King James, she must forgive, and all the normal OT babble. In my opinion, this was horrible advice that prolonged a very bad situation.
As far as going after another man's wife, please reference my first post. "He is gone now", and "she is just out of a divorce" should make it clear to you that she is not this mans wife anymore. Again, a wrong assumption on your part, based on the fact that you did not read my original post.
Your inferrence that we may be "messing with God and the Bible to try and justify ourselves" is silly. I know this man, and his history, and he is not even close to being a good person. Turns out all the "wise Council" was a little nearsighted, and has since changed their tune.
My point, that you missed, is many men, using fundie church doctrine, dominate and control woman relentlessly. This is done in large part by the inherit guilt religion requires of it's followers.

Buz,
I said (another mis-quote)that Harry Potter was not satan. The fundie church gets all up in arms over the funniest things.
Also, all bible teachings are not bad. Quite the contrary... I do beleive the bible has a great deal of wonderful doctrine, that if treated rationally, would benefit mankind. Bible teachings are only bad when people use them to control, dominate, and intimidate individuals into their way of thinking.
Being able to think for yourself without having to refer back to an old story book to see if it is "OK" is quite nice. Try it sometime.

quote:
You say she says her ex conned her out of 250 grand and his church backs him. Something's not right about this picture. I've been in fundie churches all my life and I just don't see all these people in the church backing up a con man if indeed that's what happened.
Why not?
People in churches and in families have traditionally and consistently believed the word of the pastor over the word of a victim.
There have been innumerable cases of a mother disbelieving her child is being sexually abused by her husband, even when the evidence is apparent.
She just didn't want to know, so she didn't.
People do all sorts of mental gymnastics in order to avoid emotional pain and disillusionment.
It's really quite a common occurence.

Your sister was right both times!
Ask your sister.
'That is the best way to break out. Your sister can attest to the fact that the ancients observed the behavior of man. The mysteries understood what was going on. The religious spiritualism made people easily manipulated, even though the spirits in us are real.
What your sister can do is synergize the religious misconceptions and the scriprtual misinterpretations into the common sense realiry that Freud and Carl Jung re-discovered for us.
The seven spirits before the throne of our human thinking, in the image of the Godly Reality of the universe and its Natural Laws are archetypal psychic apparati.
Recognize them by their most recent title, relate the influence they have on us as explained in terms of their ancient names, then start acting "sane" as opposed to religious.
I assume you have not read this post which I offered on two other threads. Who better than you religious/psychologist sister would understand?
The seven spirits before the throne of the Homo Spaiens brain are known to us today.
1) Id = The Pleasure Principle = Lucifer
2) Libido = Physical Drives = Satan
3) Ego = The Aggressive Drive = Mammon
4) Anima = Feminine principle of Intuition = Devil
5) Self = The Reality Principle = Baalzebub
6) Superego = The Logical/Mathematical Mind = False Prophet
7) Harmony = Psychic Balance = False Shepherd
The eighth emerging psychic factor has been brought to our attention by martyrs.
8) Conscience = Brotherliness = The Good Shepherd
Rev. 1:4 ... Grace be unto you, and peace, ...; and from the seven (archetypal) Spirits which are before his throne, (the mind); Id, Libido, EGO, Anima, Self, Superego, Harmony...
Rev. 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand,... The seven stars are the psychic angels, Id, Libido, EGO, Anima, Self, Superego, Harmony...

You're not fooling anybody. You're not really answering posts. Your agenda/obsession is merely to get your list published on the web as many times as possible. This has absolutely nothing to do with his sister being un-brainwashed by education...it's just another lame attempt at rationalizing posting the same 'ol clap-trap.

Rocket
You are the only one trying to get your agenda across.
You admit that you haven't read the scripyures, but you condemn them. Your reason is the worst of motives.
You told me that you stll resnt the church people who gave food to your family when you were growing up. The price they extracted for this, right so or evil, was that you testify before the assembly and represent the families which were needy at that time. In this, pewrhaps they hoped to loosen up more pocket books, or maybe, as you say, they merely schulled before crowds to build up their church.
Either way, they were wrong and viloated the very scriptures you us against Christians. Why not use this argument in areas where the christian practice of Charity does violate their own teachings?
Matt. 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
PS
Am I not right about our latest Freudian and Jungian analogy, no... simile with the seven ancient spirits?
Why, saul, do you prosecute me?

self unhelp music
Yes, there are some really nasty religious organizations out there. (Like I saw the David Koresh story about the WACO incident. Remember We- Ain't- Comin'- Out?)
Anyway. Life sucks, and we better wake up our minds, use all seven cylinders. There are criminal cults, sex cults, drug cults,...
NOTE: When his sister had her baby, she REALLY went RELIGOUS. This is an ancient syndrome, The Istar Syndrome.
Istar of the Night and Istar of the Day.
The Goddess who turns brother against brother. The Whore of Babylon (Rev 17)
HERE IS HOW THE CULT OF ISTAR DOES IT:
Women intuitively understand how it all works. And, they ARE programmed into this "religion" (it was once formally regarded as a religion, with temple and all).
The Cult of Istar starts with the teraphim gift of a baby doll, usually as soon as possible, age one. Little more need be said as the attention and expected "motherly" behaviors begin to take root without words. This programs the "Good Woman" half of the syndrome. The girls all, know that in the back of their mind they will be mothers, first and most importantly. The Madonna Complex revolves around a fixation with this "side" or face of women that some men think represents the Good Woman. They have NO idea that mommie dearest ws once a practicing Istar of the Night (ages 12-28).
Then, when they reach puberty, rock and roll music takes on the educational process. This "rapping" opens the girl's mind to that important next step, choosing and "domesticating" (i.e. not allowed out alone with the guys) the victim (who will become the "Idolized" and, impossibly, suitable God Zeus-like husband. This is the god-like man who will "make her happy," keep her family safe, pay so she can "shop 'til she drops," and be a "father" to the growing children).
This original poem illustrates what she learns about this Istar Cult of the Night program.
(It also is why she finds God when she has a daughter because she KNOWS what a hell and risk it will be for the kid.)
What is life, if not fun!
Goin' school, layin' in the sun.
Humpin' girls, Devil may care,
Practicin' for middle age affair.
Let's do drugs, while we wait.
What's more fun, on a date?
Marriage time is way off...
We'll imitate the monkey and the sloth.
Welfare thru the roof...
Use condoms, don't be a goof!
Murder babies, or tax to pay,
With this system, we will stay.
Anti- or Pro, from Moses' day,
Arguments,... while we the girls lay.
Rolling dope and in the hay,
Please, abortion debate, we pray.
Mom and dad, THEY let us play,
In adolescence we wanta stay.
Party both night and day,
Sexual pleasure straight or gay.
Yes, abortion seems a crime
During our long adolescence time.
But, sex is soooo much fun,
We'll kill a daughter or our son.
STD and Aids,
Homo-gay blades,
Crime for drugs,
And Rap promotin' thugs...
13 to 30... This is fun!
Join GenX, and get some.
Stretch out school,
dumbin' down, actin' the fool.
College now is 7 years,
Dormin' together, no more jeers.
Oral sex recommended by peers,
Brushin' hard to end chlamydia fears.
Use my daughter, just for fun!
Men no longer use the shotgun.
Spread her legs, make a grandson,
Kill the Bastard when you're done.
This is 2003...
By 2K50, where we be?
Is the next Big Bubble to burst,
Will our Empire do better? Do worse?
Haven't they all fell?
Mocked by History, gone to hell...
Was it sexual witchcraft?
Or, that the men refused the draft?
Why not be Anti- or Pro,
Never let the argument go.
Prevent the focus on the sex,
Go "F" yourself, says Gen X.
We've got a roof, and plenty drugs,
Don't do good in school no mo'
We lay the ladies before they're wife.
We love this hedonistic life!
