Yes! That's why it says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Then it goes on to reveal how God created every creature after their own kind, and finally God created man in the image of God. If you think some parts are metaphorical, point them out from your viewpoint, and we who know our Creator will respond.
I will say the entire book of Genesis is metaphorical, mythological and/or alleghorical. It is stories told by bronze aged men about what they observed with the use of human imagination to "connect the dots."
If one looks at these stories though the eyes of those who told these stories instead of through 21st century eyes, one can easily see that the Genesis stories are no more real than Greek, Roman, Norse, Egyptian, Mayan, Hindi, Muslem and Chinese mythology.
