You use the term "gospels" (plural), but I contend that there is only one "gospel" and not several "gospels". i count four.1. matthew 2. mark 3. luke 4. john. when people say "gospels" the usually mean the books themselves, where as "gospel" means "the good news [of christ's sacrifice/resurrection]" unless they say "the gospel of ____"

Which is why you should not be surprised if someone chooses not to discuss the scientific truths revealed in the Bible. People with your mindset refuse to acknowledge that the Bible could have anything scientific to say. people with your mindset seems to think that the bible has something scientific to say. what is this based on? in my other recent reply to you, i demonstrated what the bible has to say about the natural world. and i gaurantee you that it's 100% literal and free of scientific bias. while i'd much prefer the bible to be right, i don't read it with any expectation of it being scientifically accurate at all. i'd rather know what it says. i don't care if it's right or wrong. if you wanna believe that science is wrong and the bible is right, that's up to you. but do not confuse the two or think that they are on the same side very often if at all.

Let's try something new. How about we explore the areas where we might agree, and when we reach a point of disagreement, perhaps we could explore our reasoning for the disagreement.

When I use the term "Bible" I am referring to the word of God as received by Adam,...Abraham,...Moses,...Israel(Jacob)...Peter,...James,...John,...Paul and all the others in between. whoa whoa whoa. let me get this straight. you think ADAM wrote part of the bible? and abraham? and jacob? and joseph? i mean, it's relatively traditional that moses wrote genesis (something good literary analysis disproves). but you think that he was cribbing from the people the stories are ABOUT? you actually think the people IN the book wrote it? i'm sorry. i can't find that credible in the slightest. what person writes as little as a few paragraphs about their lives, and generally little more than a few chapters? plus, the fact that it's full of anachronisms for the time, meaning it had to have been written by later authors.
quote: that's like saying "here is a history of the united states before the constitution was signed." we can easily deduce from that simple statement that the history itself had to have been written after the event it describes (duh). in this case, genesis (or this section of genesis) had to have been written after king saul.

Do you suppose that Adam and Eve did not know their Messiah would come? Read my post again, think about it and then get back to me in the How do you decide what is True in the Bible? as this thread is about qualifications and not Bible study. Oky but it would probably fit better in your new thread when it gets approved.

EJ,
I've just found the reminder for this message in my inbox and felt that I had to give a response. I don't appreciate being dismissed so disrespectfully - I thought my initial message was perfectly civil.
The mere fact that you refer to the scientific method as cold hard steel is to me a clear indication that you most likely have a completely close-minded attitude when it comes to the truths revealed in the Bible. I understand that I could very well be wrong in that assessment, but I truly doubt that I am. Bait refused due to overwhelming putridity. Ah! I get it! According to you, anyone who wants to hold a position on the bible must have the proper EltonianJames approved qualifications, but you feel you can comment on the ToE without a similar requirement. Anyone who points out that there is possibly a hint of Pot and Kettle in this attitude is ignored as close-minded and their arguments classed as worthless and rotten. Nice.
