Re: Mental Gymnastics?
Nothing at all but discussion of the OP has no takers.

We are the sum of all that is, and has been. We will be the sum of our choices.

Re: Mental Gymnastics?
The fall from grace has clear effects on all of humanity and creation in general. We still suffer these effects today (death).
(And in answer to your question...) Jesus died for our sins and removed the judgement upon us once we accept him as saviour, but he did not remove the effects themselves.
That is why the world is still full of those injustices that make us ask where God is in all of this. We (all creation) are all still suffering due to the sin commited by Adam and Eve.
The effects of death are not so much a curse on humanity but a removal of the giver of life which is the "Tree of life". Mans' immortality does not exist without access to the tree and the only way to get access is to be admitted into heaven.
Rev. 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the TREE of LIFE, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
You might ask then how death 1st came into existence.
Answer: it has always been around from the beginning of creation.
Man was only immortal in the garden because at the time he had access to the tree of life. That was why he was expelled after the "sin", so access could be denied.
Ge 3:22-23: And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the TREE of LIFE, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

We are the sum of all that is, and has been. We will be the sum of our choices.
