The aboriginal people used to use them to flavour pemmican. They are being cultivated now (and so are the buffalo), but the wild berries are - as far as I know - still wild. There are grubs and worms and termites and spiders and lizards and saskatoons. If you could find wild bananas you could eat them if you wanted.
There are pine nuts, and caterpillars and a few wild birds and fish. What other things are still as God Intended? Aslan is not a Tame Lion |

eat freely of the trees is a lot different than subduing the grains of the fields Well, He did say any tree in the garden. My question is how can we know what God intended us to do when He said to "subdue the earth." Some people (like Ann Coulter) suggest that it gives us license to rape and even destroy the earth if we want to. I don't agree with that interpretation, however, God also cursed Adam to toil in the fields and to work to get his food. Now, taken as a story about the reasons why the world works the way it does (pain in childbirth, snakes having no legs, agriculture, etc), it would make sense that God did intend for us to selectively breed the foods that we eat as that is what agriculture is for. Otherwise, God wold have said something like "you are cursed to track and chase the beasts and spend hours looking for the most nutritious fruits and nuts." It is a story written by people who already practiced agriculture and had, presumably, already manipulated their food supply to their benefit for many, many years. "You are metaphysicians. And you are mad cosmos-makers. Each of you dwells in a cosmos of his own making, created out of his own fancies and desires. You do not know the real world in which you live, and your thinking has no place in the real world except in so far as it is phenomena of mental aberration." -The Iron Heel by Jack London "Hazards exist that are not marked" - some bar in Chelsea

But God is not "manipulating foodstuffs to our benefit" I didn't say that God was doing the manipulating. I meant that we were and asked why God could not have intended such a thing when he commanded us to ""subdue the earth" and then consequently cursed man to toil in the fields for his food (agriculture). For more, see my post to brenna above. "You are metaphysicians. The end result though is that we did the manipulating.
My point in the OP was that some folk tend to think processed food as one example, or GM foods, are "Not what God intended". If though they take your position, whatever is there is "what God Intended." Aslan is not a Tame Lion

to eat "what god intended" without farming the supply in any way or changing the natural charecteristics of the foodstuff would eventually run humanity into a miniscule population barrier.
By no means is god's intentions logical or rational if it forces humanity into starvation, imo. my point: to label SOME food that has been changed by humanity over the years for our benefit is quite the hypocrisy unless the "labeler" follows the above list to the letter. Edited by Damouse, : No reason given. This statement is false. Yeah so i lurk more than i post, thats why my posts are so low for two year's worth of membership. So sue me.

Well, thanks. That might be true. But as with Jaderis' post, if we take that tack then any and all food stuffs available could be classed as "as God Intended" or we get into some judgmental blame game.
But this thread is oriented more towards simply trying to find what foodstuffs might still be available that are not designer foods. Edited by jar, : fix sub-title Aslan is not a Tame Lion

By no means is god's intentions logical or rational if it forces humanity into starvation, imo. especially considering that his first order developed into his promise that his people being numbered as the sands on the shore. it seems to me that it really depends. these people who argue that we should eat organic because it's what god intended have no foundation. it's really a silly idea. i think that's what jar is trying to illustrate. the bible suggests that god has done whatever it takes to reach his ends. as such, i don't think his intentions are to restrict us from any food, and when he does, it's to restrict us from something else.

Ah.
I hesitantly nominate insects to the food list? Little to no purposeful cultivation, and yet plenty of people consume insects worldwide (besides the west....) This statement is false. Yeah so i lurk more than i post, thats why my posts are so low for two year's worth of membership. So sue me.
