That is not a fair assessment IMHO. I agree with GDR, Amaricans are the first to come and help no matter where. In some cases the help has been a bit like an elephant is a glass shop but it does not diminish the basic willingness to want to help.That said, it is also nothing short of amazing how religious fanaticism has led to a quarter of Americans being knowledgewise on the same level as a squid.

As you might notice from my profile, Im not American. I still claim that willingness to come and help is an admirable American trait. Collateral damage is another thing...A friend of mine said something that sums up my view quite nicely: "Americans are making it hard work to keep on loving them".

I'd say that we in general like the Americans. I personally have just about only met nice peeps from the US.
Of course there's obnoxity everywhere and in 300 mio there must be plenty but I'd not make blanket statements.
