Re: .50 Cal Jesus Kills for your Sins
Who told you that? The fake news media? Quote one of those tweets and we'll discuss it. Should the entire presidency be judged on tweets?
No one needs to tell me what Trump tweets - it's not secret information. I linked to the Tweet I was thinking of in the previous post. Percy quoted it above:
Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of U.S. foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!
The President of the United States is declaring to the world that the problems in US-Russia relations are all America's fault. The fact that this is a tweet is not the relevant point. I'm just baffled how people can see this man as a nationalist.

Re: .50 Cal Jesus Kills for your Sins
He's not a stuffy Lyndon Johnson or Richard Nixon, he has a personality that many Christians happen to like. "Journalists" are demonstrating a hatred that is simply not good for the well being of the U.S.
That appears to be correct. But the rest of us Christians cannot see what there is about his personality to like. Could you expand on this a bit? The consensus among many of Trump's supporters seems to be that they like his policies but that his outburst, Tweets, and rants are detractions that they excuse. Yet you and "many Christians" see something in his personality that they like. What might that be?

Infantile, especially when compared to the unprecedented hatred spewed by Trump (birther bullshit) about Obama during the entire 8 years of his term as president.
Obama reacted with total class.
One thing Trump has proven, he will never have class.

Not part of the hatred, per se. But there is this gem posted by Trump after Obama's re-election in 2012. Trump thought that Obama had lost the popular vote (which he hadn't) but that he had been granted victory by the electoral college.
quote:
more votes equals loss...revolution!
The election is a total sham. We are not a democracy.

So many words, so little time. We could spend a whole day stating words that perfectly describe Trump without any repetition. A putrid cesspool or just shitforbrains both work for me.

Breaking News: Trump a Liar
What, no one thinks that's breaking news?
Well, anyway, it turns out Michael Cohen, until recently Trump's personal attorney and fixer, secretly recorded Donald Trump discussing the payoff of playmate Karen McDougal. The tape was seized when the FBI raided Cohen's New York office. Trump therefore lied when he denied knowledge of the payment.
It ain't fake news, folks - Rudy Giuliani confirmed it, though if you read the first article link below (from the New York Times - it's the most detailed) he tells a complex and convoluted story that just doesn't ring true - more lies, no doubt, and no surprise. Why do Trump and his boys so often lie, even when they don't have to? Sources:
Want more, just go to Google News.
So as if we needed it, here is yet more evidence that Trump's is a repeat offender philanderer and a liar. So, all you Christian soldiers out there, how do you feel about Trump breaking his marriage vows while his wife Melania was pregnant with Barron, then lying about efforts to keep it quiet? There seems nothing for Christians to like about Trump, so why do you like him so much? Do you really believe the ends justify the means, that advancing a conservative political agenda justifies supporting the antichrist?

Because they are right-wing populists.
Also, this quote:
quote:
Republicans are continuing to support the president in part because they are tired of the constant attacks leveled against him by both Democrats and the media, which have led them to feel defensive of themselves and Trump. The result, according to Peters, has been a bonding experience that keeps the party’s voters from drifting away.

You didn't actually quote anything, so I don't know what you think relevant on Joe's page, but this did catch my attention:
quote:
Democrats: "Non-Citizens have a right to vote in elections."
I'm not a Democrat, I just don't like lying. I'd object if he lied about Republicans or independents or anyone or anything.
This isn't a position the Democratic party supports. Why is he lying about this? If this is an example of how Trump supporters think then it tells us they're just like him: they lie.

Without reading the book, I'm going to guess that it's part of the conspiracy theory that the Democrats encourage lots of illegal immigrants to illegally vote because that's the only way they'd ever be able to win any election.

Re: .50 Cal Jesus Kills for your Sins
[REMINDER FROM MY MESSAGE 2172]
quote:
I know of course, that everyone else in this thread thinks Christians are wrong about these things. I'm not here to discuss that, I just wanted to answer your question about why Christians support Trump. I hope it helps.
P.S. I'm also not here to discuss evolutionist's versions of what Christianity is and who Christians are.
Hyroglyphx hasn't been here since he asked the question, but no less than 7 other frantic Trump haters have come in to bat for him. That's one of the reasons I LOVE this place, (about once every 6 months that is) but I still have little interest in doing any more than answering his question. Percy did provide a beautiful prompt for me to more thoroughly answer that question however, I'll get to that shortly, including a few other brief comments.
Percy writes:
Do Christians care that Trump bluntly tells lies?
The lie accusations fly with every president, it's all very subjective. In the case of presidents, and the news media for that matter, Christians can consider ~omissions of truth~ as almost as serious as a lie. Trump wasn't a D.C. insider, and some of the things he said during the campaign, and is saying now, are TRUTHS that need to be said, since D.C. insiders tend not to say them.
Of course word definitions can change. Are you saying that you think fake news should now be defined as any news unfavorable to Donald Trump or that he disagrees with?
It WILL be defined however the general public chooses to recognize the term. If they decide that it's a personal opinion from someone who claims to be an objective journalist, that's the way it will be defined, and it will be a very broad definition.
I don't watch any television news and so can't comment, and I don't think your reactions to ABC News are relevant to this conversation anyway. In a thread about Trump this should be about what Trump thinks is fake news, not you.
It's more on topic than your and Stile's above conversation about unions. (please don't ban me, I'm going I'm going.)

You are right. Having illegal's vote is not something Democrats espouse, but the idea that Democrats are looking for votes from illegals or from former illegals is a part of conspiracy theory pushed frequently by Republicans including at least one poster to these forums. I would not call it a lie; but it is ridiculous, paranoid, and inane. Fear of a brown planet.

What 9K says here is that whatever he decides is distortion, and his criteria is easily revealed to be subjective and leaning towards whatever he already believes, is fake news.
I get my information from lots of sources. My views are actually pretty mainstream, the reason there is so much shock about them here is probably because most here, like Percy, live in the tiny NY Times, Washington Post bubble.
