At this point one might study the years and events leading up to WWII.

looks remarkably like Neville Chamberlain, behaves in the same clueless manner, and seems to have learned nothing from the history of that era.
The question at this point is how far Putin wants to push it. As in the decade leading up to WWII, it looks like he is the deciding factor. We'll see what lesson
he takes from that era's history Real Soon Now I suspect.
