You do understand what a symbol is, don't you? You can make a symbol of anything to make a point. It's a symbol because it isn't real. It isn't evidence for the supernatural. There are no natural connections between the sins and their consequences here, they are all spiritual or symbolic....And our geese will blot out the sun.

A symbol is a symbol because somebody has imposed a meaning on it. An eagle is not inherently American. It's a symbol of America because people attribute to it the qualities that they wish they had, qualities that it doesn't necessarily have in reality.
A symbol is a symbol because it shares the same content or meaning as the thing it symbolizes. Faith writes:
That "spiritual nature" is also something that you have imposed on reality, not something that is really there. The spiritual nature of the universe is unrecognized for the most part but it is real and staggeringly impressive. And our geese will blot out the sun.

No, he's just another fictional character - and not a very plausible one at that. You've made up your own caricature of the Biblical God, who's just an amalgamation of characters made up by a multitude of authors anyway. The thing is, He's THE God, not just my God.... If there is a real God, he/she/it is nothing like what you imagine. And what you call "justice" is worthy of nothing but contempt. And our geese will blot out the sun.

Unfortunately your view is shared by too many people in the world. We need to keep pointing out how you're wrong. Unfortunately your view is shared by a lot of people here, I hope not everyone. And our geese will blot out the sun.

But that isn't what the Constitution protects. You can live it every day every where until the cows come home but you can't dictate what is protected under "freedom of religion". ... my religion is a life commitment....And our geese will blot out the sun.

That isn't a very Christian attitude.
... if it is not protected and we are confronted with a demand to honor gay marriage we will have to be punished for refusing.quote: And our geese will blot out the sun.

The only conflict is the one that you're creating. If the requirements of your job offend your conscirnce, get a different job. By staying in a job or business that requires you to choose between God's law and the law of his agents, you're flouting the principle that Paul talked about. You're slapping God's agents in the face.

It isn't the law confronting Christians. It's Christians confronting the law. And that's Christians confronting Paul. So far the law has only confronted Christians....And our geese will blot out the sun.

Adultery isn't about sex. In the Old Testament it's a property crime. Theft, coveting and adultery are all closely related. Everything related to sex and sexuality is discussed in the Law as under the commandment against adultery. Edited by ringo, : Fixed quote. And our geese will blot out the sun.

It's about the other man's property. It's like using his lawnmower without permission. ... the fact that men could also commit adultery means it wasn't just about men's property. And in any case, the main concern was that the other man shouldn't leave any of his children behind for you to feed and to claim your property as inheritance. And our geese will blot out the sun.

As I said, it's closely related to coveting, which is about property. As Jesus pointed out, it isn't an action, it's a thought or feeling, like coveting. Adultery is a more specific version of coveting. Jesus explains adultery as lust in the heart, which applies to both men and women and doesn't seem at all related to property. And our geese will blot out the sun.

You have to read a lot of stuff into the Bible when it isn't there. Women have always had to read ourselves into biblical admonitions to men....And our geese will blot out the sun.
