If we wish to know whether, for example, pterodactyls are extinct, what can we do except observe the world and notice that we can't find any living pterodactyls?
The only established fact that I see from this example is that there
was an animal which use to live which apparently is hard to find living now.
"Some animals are extinct. Therefore Evolution took place" has always seemed to me a shaky assumption.
