Seeing that I'm not the one that made that statement, you might want to ask the person who did. I would like to know myself.
P.S. Any reason for attributing it to me? This message has been edited by Hydarnes, 08-12-2004 01:22 PM

What evidence ? The plural "Gods" in the translations ?
There's nothing to indicate that it refers to petroglyphs. That's just speculation. And certainly it does not refer to anything on the altar. Now are you going to tell me if your interpretation of the out-of-context Exodus 32:4 was made knowing that the context ruled out your reading or not ?

I don't even know what context it was said in....and I can't even find where it was said.

the validity of some evidence is alleged to be supported by some experts , we would like to know who they were.

quote: Ah, but it IS evidence when it tallies with the physical presence of the discovery, and then when you put all of the correlating pieces together. You keep trying to deal with everything singly, rather than noticing that the whole pattern fits. What do you do with all the historians that indicate jabal al lawz as the Mountain? Did they also just "make it up?" Sinai is in MidianJabal Al Lawz is in Midian Josephus tells us it is the highest mountain in the regionJabal Al Lawz is the highest mountain in the region The Bible talks about the rock of HorebWe have a very compelling candidate for that rock The bible tells us about an altar with the golden calfWe have that, as well as petroglyphs of cows The bible talks about a cave on the mountainThere is a cave on Jabal Al lawz You keep trying to convince us by questioning one thing at a time....but the fact is, there's just too many things adding up for you to just dismiss the whole thing as not worth considering.

Well, if that is the case, and there is also great speculation of a lot of fraud on his part (for example, I believe the chariot wheel alledgedly discovered is no where be found for independant verification), it makes any claims of Ron Wyatt highly suspect at best.
At this point, I don't think Ron Wyatt will counter with actually providing evidence of his claims to be put under peer review.

So lets look at your evidence.
1) Is Sinai in Midian ? That isn't clear from Exodus. 2) Josephus was writing in the 1st Century AD. Maybe he had sources now lost, but certainly he was nowhere close to contemporary with the actual events. And here is what Lysimachus said about Josephus
quote:Do you disagree with that ? 3) To the best of my recollection this "compelling candidate" has not been discussed in either thread. Certainly not to the extent that I am prepared to accept it as established. 4) You do not have a Golden Calf. And you have yet to show that the petroglyphs have any connection to the Exodus. And you guys insult me when I ask for evidence to support that connection. 5) If this is the cave I think it is other sites say that it was carved out later. This again needs to be discussed. So again all your actual evidence seems to be tenuous links - but with a lot of - as yet - unsupported assertions.

Unfortunately, the name of this archaeologist was not given. I will email Bill Fry and see if he knows. However, we do know that he was from Riyadh University. Read what he told Ron about the Bulls:

Unfortunately, the name of this archaeologist was not given. So you will withdraw that claim until you can support it?
Also, read what 4 doctors and some authors have to say about Jebel Al Lawz and Mt. Sinai" on PAX Television: sigh... remember how we discussed DVD and videos? How they are not evidence? Now apply this concept to a TV show..... This message has been edited by Charles Knight, 08-12-2004 02:14 PM This message has been edited by Charles Knight, 08-12-2004 02:15 PM

Well, considering that Ron Wyatt has been accused of fraud in his discovries, and you are linking to one of the web sites promoting
his 'discoveries'.. I have to ask for not only a valid name, but something that is in a peer reviewed article.
