Hi Lindum,
I wonder if there might be some confusion:
Whatever I set the order to in my profile, the All Topics list always displays as reverse chrono (ie newest at the bottom). Reverse chrono puts the newest at the top, not the bottom. If you want newest at the top, set the Thread Display Order in your profile to Reverse Chronological. It is currently set to Chronological, which would put the newest threads at the bottom. The member list issues are on my list, but Internal Server Errors means it's something simple, so I'll probably get to this very soon. Thanks for noticing the forum glossary - I'm actually still working on it, though not at present while I address the bugs. About this:
No one below director status can do any of the message management tasks that we use to be able to do such as changing thread titles. Thread titles can now be changed by editing msg 1. Thread originators now have the power to modify their own titles.

jar writes: Note that thread still ends with message 10 of 21. Now fixed, but the thread might not be useful since the original contents are gone and what's left is only a copy.

Ben writes: Notes:Apparently the paging was not calculated based on my settings, but some other settings (hardcoded?) Your surmise is correct, it was based upon the board's settings instead of the user's for the search page. User's settings now take precedence.

Reply to messages 76 through 80:
76: The search results are planned to eventually page following the board and user settings. 77: Among a number of reasons for the extensive rewrite is that the search database is too slow and too easily corrupted. Failure to find search terms is because of corrupted databases. The evolution forum finally accumulated so many messages that the search database couldn't be built from scratch, which is necessary when the database becomes corrupted, because of server processor time limits. I'm in the process of redesigning the search database. I'm planning to use Perl's DB_File unless/until someone suggests something better. 78: I'm getting search results with bookmarks to the message in the file. If you give me an example search that has this problem I'll check it out. 80: I had considered both the alternatives you mentioned. I agree that just adding timezone info to the edit comment is a "least" scenario, but it's the one I have time for. To all who are finding and reporting bugs/problems/dislikes: this is invaluable, thank you very much!

Those who have selected reply notification in their profile might have noticed that the name of the thread was *not* being included in the body of the email. This has been fixed.

Ben writes: Can you check this out? I wanted to email this poster, but I wasn't sure if the poster had wanted to display or hide the aforementioned email address. So I'll wait for your reply to decide. You have Director status during this period of testing - you see all, know all. If you logout, you'll no longer be able to see the email addresses of members who want them private.

You described a problem where a link pointed to a page of a thread that didn't exist. The thread has only one message:
If this is due to a bug, I'm not able to reproduce any circumstances that reproduce it. I wonder if it is possibly due to user error - perhaps the original thread or forum number was incorrect. Anyway, I'm taking this one off my list until I get another report of it happening.

I haven't changed the email notification code, and email notifications are working for my Admin account - I was notified of your reply, for example. Your profile seems to be properly set up for email notification.
Everyone: is anyone else out there experiencing a problem with email notification? About the "Replies Await" column in your topic index, the code currently only detects if there's a reply to your *last* message. There have been many requests to fix this, and I plan to do so, but there's no schedule at the current time.

Ben writes: Expected:To be taken to message 46 (i.e. the following URL to be produced) http://EvC Forum: Theory of De-evolution!!!!! Current:I was taken to page 4 of the thread (posts 16-20) These types of problems should now be fixed. All messages are now referenced with respect to the message number instead of the page number, then the page is rendered using the settings from the user's profile.

Ben writes: Expected:Results page to show with no broken links. Moods should be linked using EvC Forum: Webpage not found! Current:Page shows, but the image for "message mood" is broken for all results. The link is EvC Forum: Webpage not found! Notes:You allow directory browsing of the Images directory and all subdirectories. Just FYI. This is all fixed now.

Moose writes: IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE THE SAME MESSAGES PER PAGE FOR EVERYONE. THE OLD 15 PER PAGE IS NICE. Messages are now referenced through the message number instead of the page number, so this should no longer be a problem. Messages prior to 12/25/2004 will still have some incorrect links, but I'll be changing them over to the correct form soon.

Moose writes: I have successfully posted a "Reply to Message" at a topic, but the same topic will not accept a "General Reply". Hi Moose! Let me make sure I understand. You're confirming that the "General Reply" button, probably your most hated button, isn't working. Boy, talk about holiday spirit! Whoops! I was so shocked I forgot to mention: problem is fixed. Thanks, everyone, for finding and reporting this. This message has been edited by Admin, 12-30-2004 15:58 AM

Hi Moose!
Slowly working my way through the bug notices. I fixed the signature problem a few days ago, hopefully it stayed fixed.
