for what reason?
They say in their explanation of their closing of the Christian account that they are open to "all sectors of society" --- EXCEPT the Christian sector. Funny how that goes.
I'm for anybody denying business to anybody for any reason myself. Christians may have to start their own banks.
You are clearly wrong when you state it is a because they are Christians. The stated reason was NOT because they are Christian and many Christian groups would pass the criteria this bank has put forward.
The reason was because they are bigots.
Whether a bank should reject customers based on this is something that I am of two minds about. I think I will watch the discussion unfold a bit and see if anything is posted that will help me make up my mind.
Certainly, if the bank was espousing that kind of hate-based thinking I would not be a customer of it. I'm not sure that I want the selection of customers dealt with based on that kind of thing though. It seems to be to be fraught with peril.

Re: for what reason?
BIBLE-believing God-fearing Christians. I don't recognize any other kind of course, but since you do, go ahead and take the name as well as our bank accounts. Steal it all. That's the way the world is going.
Funny; I'm no biblical expert but I was pretty sure that the message of the Christ was one of love and tolerance. It would seem that the bank understands the message of the bible more than these so-called Christians.
Listening to the interview (thanks CK) convinces me that the bank did the right thing.

Persecute those who persecute
Persecution of Christians is coming in spades, just as bad as it ever was in the days of the Caesars, and God's judgment is following hard on its heels for exactly the reasons Steve Green gives.
Only those "Christians" who wish to promulgate persecution themselves. I'll resist persecution of others who do no harm.

Re: Once again you misquote me.
You used the term "bigot" to describe the views of Steve Green, which I share, did you not? Where's the misquote? I merely went on to point out the logical outcome of your trend of thinking, whether you recognize it or not.
Did anyone talk about stringing up or burning bigots? Not that I noticed. It is just not the kind of thing that we are inclinded to support or cozy up to.
You portray an excellent example of the kind of thing that my Christian friends are distrubed by. It is necessary to occasionally remind them that most of us can distinguish between those and others who pretend to be Christian.

Hatred? what emotion?
Let's see, I've got Chas Knight, crash, you, jar, Ned, and who all else here hating my guts for what, for saying that I think the bank has the right to deny business to whomever, and that being a Bible-believing Christian I agree with Steve Green, who is trying to save his nation from God's wrath.
Hating? Not at all. I don't know you. You have, as far as I know not committed any acts that might lead me to such a strong emotion.
How do I feel? About like you might if you were in close quarters with someone hearing voices and ranting about it: a mix of about 80% pity and 20% fear.

Canadian Pastors in Prison?
Faith writes:
In one part of Canada they even put pastors into prison for preaching that homosexuality is a sin
DrJones writes:
Some evidence of this?
Yea, I'd like to see where that happened too. If it was local to me I think it would be worth doing something about it.
(However, my best guess is that Faith has this wrong -- wouldn't be the first "fact" that ain't)
