Groups like this sound good but far too often they prefer to ignore the words Christ spoke to the harlot caught in adultery. Though he did not condemn her he did tell her to go and sin no more. Groups like this seem to promote the idea that Christ approved of sexual sin by calling for the inclusion and acceptance of homosexual behaviour. Sin is still sin. judge not. lest ye be judged.

Jesus said nothing about homosexuals jesus said something about the way we are to treat people -- and that includes homosexuals, as well as prostitutes, abortion doctors, muslims, and people who are trying to kill us. jesus saud "love your neighbor" and that we should have compassion on them. he said "love your enemy" not just those who think like you. he said "if someone strikes you on the cheek, present him the other one too" and that "if someone takes our jacket, to give him the shirt also." he also said "judge not, lest ye be judged" the same way. and "don't point out the splinter in your brother's eye, when there's a log in your own." none of these sound even remotely like "condemn the fags."

One command does not negate the other. let's examine that subject. according to paul, whose writings i'm sure you adore, should we gentiles get circumcised?
Sin is sin whether we acknowledge it or not. and "love your neighbor" means "love your neighbor" whether they sin or not. and they do.
There is no middle ground. yes, i agree. there is no middle ground. judge not, lest ye be judged. you judge people for being gay, and people will judge you for being a bigot.

You are incorrect in saying that Jesus did not speak on the subject of homosexuality really? show me, book chapter and verse, where it says "And Jesus said, 'love your neighbor, but stone the faggots.'" now, leviticus calls homosexuality an abomination. care to discuss leviticus with me?

Simply acknowledging that sin is sin does not make one a bigot, unless you also think Jesus was a bigot. then i won't be a bigot when i judge you a sinner. care to hear the grounds i condemn you on?

Disdain for morality is hardly the answer neither is disdain for people.

Self proclaimed "christians" who deny the entirety of the Word of God shall receive no respect from me. fair enough.
quote: do you shave? cut your hair? go thy way and sin no more!
quote: got any tatoos or piercings? those are gonna have to go too. sin no more!
quote: do you work saturdays? go thy way and sin no more!
quote: eat cheese on your sandwich today? go thy way and sin no more!
quote: was that a ham and cheese sandwich? maybe a bacon cheeseburger? go thy way and sin no more!
quote: do hug your wife when she's having her period? better not do that. go thy way and sin no more! oh, but you say, homosexuality is an ABOMINATION. alright, bring on the abominations.
quote: well, that pretty much screws red lobster. eat there, and you're going to hell.
quote: kfc's out too. and i certainly hope you didn't eat turkey last tahnksgiving, otherwise, you're going to hell.
quote: don't touch cockroaches. or you're going to hell.
quote: leave your leftovers in the fridge too long? you're going to hell. tell me, sinner, are you right with god? or do you persist in your sin? why don't you repent, and stop sinning?
Were I not a sinner, what purpose would Grace serve? if graces saves you who continue in your sin, what right do you have to judge others who continue in theirs?

God, here we go again. More nonsense. Words can't be alive. poor translation resulting in strange ideas. in one of the targums, god is refered to as "memra," the aramaic ward for "to speak," since god is most often depicted speaking, or commanind things to happen rather than actually doing something. this is a slightly uncommon way to do it, but one of the ways this particular name seems to have gotten translated into other languages was "word." ie: "the Word." at some point, this got confabulated with jesus, and it could help explain why in the book of john jesus is viewed as god, but also not god. ("the word was WITH and the word WAS god," etc)

well, like i said. it's the fault of poor translation. there was something of a problem translated ha-shem (YHWH) into aramaic for the masses. how would the aramaic-speaking jews know their god? there were a couple of ideas that were tried. some tried to transliterate, others tried to capture some concept of god.
and "to speak" was one such concept. because all they really had of god was his words -- the text, the covenant, the commandments, the law, prophet's messages, etc. and some point (probably going through greek, although i don't actually know) "to speak" became "word"

Does your faith rest on the law or on grace? mine on grace. where does your's rest, that you demand others follow the law when you can't follow it yourself?
Your post reveals how little you actually understand the scriptures. come back to me when you can read my signature, and explain to me why it's funny. This message has been edited by arachnophilia, 07-23-2005 05:14 PM

It's time for Christians to stand up and show they do not support Bigotry. but, apparently jar, jesus was a bigot. here i was deluded the whole time thinking he was such a swell guy who only said nice things about loving everyone and having compassion and such. jeeze, i can't believe i actually thought he meant all that stuff enough to actually DIE for me to prove it. wherever did i go wrong jar? and here i go being a hyprocrit, judging those who judge others as "bigots" and "hypocrits." what was i thinking?
