Pat Robertson is very critical of those who disagree with the Bush administration and the Iraq war, calling them traitors:
Robertson writes: We've won the war already, and for the Democrats to say we can't win it -- what kind of a statement is that? And furthermore, one of the fundamental principles we have in America is that the president is the commander in chief of the armed forces and attempts to undermine the commander in chief during time of war amounts to treason. I know we have an opportunity to express our points of view, but there is a time when we're engaged in a combat situation that carping criticism against the commander in chief just doesn't cut it.
source Of course, freedom of speech is treason; but apparently to Robertson using nuclear weapons to destroy part of the federal government he disagrees with is a completely reasonable solution:
Robertson referred to Mowbray's new book, "Dangerous Diplomacy: How the State Department Threatens American Security," which alleges the agency appeases sponsors of terrorism, ignores U.S. citizens abroad who are in trouble and mishandles visas, to the detriment of security. The evangelist said after he read Mowbray's book, he thought, 'If I could just get a nuclear device inside Foggy Bottom, I think that's the answer,'" Robertson said, according to a transcript on the website of his Christian Broadcasting Network. "I mean, you get through this, and you say [to yourself], 'We've got to blow that thing up.'"
source Whether he's suggesting nuclear destruction within his own borders, the assassination of a world leader, or even something relatively simple like praying to God for a Supreme Court justice's health to worsen - Pat Robertson is an evil wackjob. I truly do not understand how anyone can respect this man - he is not Christ-like, he is anti-Christ-like.

Anti-Parasite Campaign I suppose Pat's lying low when they are around... "Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science." - Charles Darwin. Did you know that most of the time your computer is doing nothing? What if you could make it do something really useful? Like helping scientists understand diseases? Your computer could even be instrumental in finding a cure for HIV/AIDS. Wouldn't that be something? If you agree, then join World Community Grid now and download a simple, free tool that lets you and your computer do your share in helping humanity. After all, you are part of it, so why not take part in it?

I truly do not understand how anyone can respect this man - he is not Christ-like, he is anti-Christ-like. Bingo, we have a winner... Actually, the more I read the news (and this board) the more I think that if there is a god, then fundamentalists are DEFINITELY followers of Satan. I mean look at the fundamentalist movement. They've basically thrown out EVERYTHING IT MEANS to be christian and replaced it with hate and dogma. It seems the perfect vessel for Satan; to use the corrupted church as his weapon. Fortunately I don't really believe in any of this. I have to give Jar some props. The more I read his views on what christianity should be all about the more I agree with them. I think fundamentalism has suceeded in taking christ out of christianity. People forget that in his day jesus was a liberal hippie. edited to correct grammar (at least some of it ) This message has been edited by Mini_Ditka, 01-06-2006 03:42 PM

its easy to scoff It's fun, too! Just ask Pat. More than half the annual donations to Operation Blessing ($885,000) go to funding the Christian Broadcasting Network. Thanks to many people who thought they were giving money to feed and house Katrina victims, Pat Robertson can scoff as long and loud as he pleases on national TV. (Edited to add source.) I mean look at the fundamentalist movement. They've basically thrown out EVERYTHING IT MEANS to be christian and replaced it with hate and dogma. While this may be true for certain prominent fundamentalists, I must think that there is vast "silent majority" out there. Although, there may be a certain validiy to "If you don't speak against it, then your for it". Or something like that. All that said, there's been quite a bit of previous PR bashing topicdom here at . Do we really want to recycle all that? Adminnemooseus

Good point moose, as always...
Although I have to say. I had not seen the diamond mine thing before. That is SUPER shady. If you feel this is going nowhere, feel free to close. It's a slow week at work! What can I say!

I beg to differ. While this may be true for certain prominent fundamentalists, I must think that there is vast "silent majority" out there. People who don't care enough to say anything aren't really taking any position. Even if there is such a group, they wouldn't be the "silent majority" for either/any side. They'd be the "silent majority" who just don't care about anything. In our particular case, they don't count at all.

A Closer Look at Pat Robertson - Topic still open.
Found by doing a forum search for "diamond". From message 1, first sentence:
I'm jumping back into the game to address what I felt where some unsupportable statements about Pat Robertson in the thread devoted to his recent, despicable remarks advocating the assassination of Hugo Chavez. So, the cited message is already a follow up to a previous topic. I leave it to someone else to track down that topic. I'm going to close this topic (in 5 minutes, you get a warning this time). Pat is liken to a watchman in the later days. Some of his comments should be taken from a biblical perspective. kjv EZE 33:6-9 Were in the last days, where right is considered wrong and wrong considered right. If the watchmen not sound the warning your blood would be on the watchmens soul. Like in the days of Noah, they would not listen, etc...
P.S. God said I set watchmen over you, saying, hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not listen. Jer 6:17

All that said, there's been quite a bit of previous PR bashing topicdom here at . Do we really want to recycle all that? Absolutely. It is essential to expose the 700 Club, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and the like for the scum that they are. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Were in the last days, where right is considered wrong and wrong considered right. So Pat is right? The best way to solve problems at the US State Department is to obliterate it and its staff with a nuclear weapon?
