Humanity's Stuggle With Death.

There is what we see, feel, hear, touch. It is worth living for what we see, hear, feel, touch and otherwise experience. They are partly innate abilities, and partly acquired (learned). I'm not convinced it is only humans. I have heard of cases where dogs have mourned.Our feelings are partly a result of learning, of being part of a cooperative social group. We are an intensely social species. We have appointed ourselves special. You could say that it is a matter of ego.

The feelings will go on, but a time will come when we will no longer be with them. Its greatness continues in our children, grandchildren, ... That's a mistake. It is that mistake that could destroy the earth, or at least destroy it for our species. And if that happens, the greatness will not continue into future generations.

My take is that our survival advantage comes from our living in societies, working cooperatively to sustain ourselves. Our level of intelligence is mainly a social adaptation, for dealing with the complexities of social cooperation.

They are too complex to describe I can give some examples. In class you are expected to raise your hand and wait for the teacher to acknowledge, before talking. When driving you are supposed to signal your intention to turn. There are many similar little rules we are supposed to follow.Then we have to deall with all of the problems, such as you do something nice for a friend, and your friend takes it as an insult.
