The first link is a collection of verses that fall into two categories.
One, like the supposed verses on relativity, is a collection of vaguely written verses taken out of context. The other, like the verses supposedly acknowledging the earth is round, is simply common knowledge at the time. Maybe you would like to share the one that you find most compelling? "We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the same sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart." -- H. L. Mencken (quoted on Panda's Thumb)

quote: This is untrue. Educated people knew that the earth was round for about a thousand years before Mohammed was even born. It was known in classical Greece, and was known by educated people since. Mencken (quoted on Panda's Thumb)

Your supplied link certainly gives an interesting, er, translation. Here is the result of my search:
051.047 YUSUFALI: With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of pace. PICKTHAL: We have built the heaven with might, and We it is Who make the vast extent (thereof). SHAKIR: And the heaven, We raised it high with power, and most surely We are the makers of things ample. The quoted verses seems to be saying that God made the universe, and he made a pretty big one. I can't find any other sources that claim the proper translation is that God is continually making the universe expand. "We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the same sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart." -- H. L. Mencken (quoted on Panda's Thumb)

The verse from the Qu'ran:
021.033 YUSUFALI: It is He Who created the Night and the Day, and the sun and the moon: all (the celestial bodies) swim along, each in its rounded course. PICKTHAL: And He it is Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. They float, each in an orbit. SHAKIR: And He it is Who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all (orbs) travel along swiftly in their celestial spheres. Of course the ancient people thought the sun and the moon traveled in orbits. You can look up in the sky and see the sun and the moon travel in orbits! The verse is talking about the sun moving about the earth. Mencken (quoted on Panda's Thumb)

quote: That is not stated in the Qu'ran at all. The verses quoted in Harun Yahya's web site says no such thing. "We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the same sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart." -- H. L. Mencken (quoted on Panda's Thumb)

A forelock is a lock of hair, not a part of the brain.

quote: No, there is no coincidence. The verses are being deliberately chosen and then twisted and mistranslated to make them say what is desired. I did. I presented translations from a site that has three different well established translations that differ from Harun Yahya's claims that the Qu'ran describes the universe as expanding. I have also pointed out that the verses describing the motion of the sun do not describe its orbit in the galaxy, but can easily be interpreted as the (then) common belief that the sun went about the earth.
Your main response has been "Nuh-uh!" I'm sorry that you have no evidence to back up your claims. But unfortunately, Harun Yahya is the Muslim Hovind. It's nonsense is even worse that Answers in Genesis. quote: The human baby does not pass through three distinct stages. There are not "biological" stages. The "stages" are like calendar months in the Western calendar -- arbitrary divisions in time set for a convenient standard to ease communication. -
quote: There are all sorts of "scientists" who claim all sorts of things.

quote: Not that I can see. Maybe someone who knows Arabic can help us out here. -
quote: What false interpretation? It is known that people used to look up in the sky and see that the sun moves about the earth. It takes no imagination whatsoever to imagine that these people would write about the sun moving in its orbit -- because they could see that's what it is doing. Now, the claim that the Qu'ran speaks of the sun orbiting the center of the galaxy -- now THAT requires a bit more evidence than simply saying claiming that it is so. quote: That's fine, as long as we remember that it doesn't reflect biological reality. -
quote: That's good, since it doesn't appear to be very accurate scientifically. -
quote: Did these "scientists" get their degrees from Patriot University? "We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the same sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart." -- H. L. Mencken (quoted on Panda's Thumb)

Frankly, your claims that those verses are saying the sun orbits the center of the galaxy has shot your credibility to hell.

quote: Huh? Um, you came here to convince us of something. All I am doing is pointing out that your claims are weak and unconvincing.
