Author | Topic: Scientific Evidence for God in the holy Qur'an | |||||||||||||||||||||||

18:86 "Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a people thereabout..."
Does the Koran suggest that the sun sets on the Earth in a muddy spring? Did God write that?

It makes no mention of the "setting place" of the sun?
I doubt that it's translated that poorly, they've had more than a thousand years to put together an English version. I can't find any English version where that verse is translated differently. Skeptic's Annotated Quran The Skeptic's Annotated Bible has a section on the Quran if anyone wants to take a peek.

Let me guess, this is translated wrong as well?
2:6 As for the Disbelievers, Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not it is all one for them; they believe not.Don't bother to warn the disbelievers. Allah has blinded them. Theirs will be an awful doom. 2:7 Allah hath sealed their hearing and their hearts, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom. According to the English Koran, you're wasting your time.

What do you say about the verse that says the Forlock (the frontal part of the brain) is responsible for planning and sinning as proved by modern science? I would say that the forlock here is talking about hair, not the brain. 96:15 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock -96:16 The lying, sinful forelock - Kinda hard to grab somebody by the brain.

I'm getting my verses from
http://www.hti.umich.edu/k/koran/browse.html The university of Michigan Although I'm finding some of them through the SAQ... They both match qord for word, from what I've seen. I have a Koran at my house too, I'll bet it matches that too.

dont you see the phrase: "lying sinful forlock". This is a hint to the frontal part of the brain so understand the verses be4 you reply. By the way, if you'r saying these aer all hints do they all came so well by coincidences? Supposing they were talking about the frontal lobe of the brain... What did anybody do with this bit of knowledge? I'm guessing that no brain research was helped by that verse.

YOu have Quran? Why? are you a muslim? I have books from quite a few different religions, though I don't follow any of them. I've never read through the entire Quran, but I've gone through parts of it.

OK answer this: Dont you see that all the verses come in direct accordance with the descovered scientific facts in the 29th century. I see scientific discoveries that were entirely unrelated to the Quran, made mostly by people with no knowledge of the Quran. To me, it seems likely that modern Muslims shoehorned certain verses to agree with current knowledge.
Lets say the forlock means hair, did it come by coincidince that the frontal part of the brain is responsible for lying and sinning? Did coincidince take part as in all other verses as you claim? It's no coincidence that the frontal lobe of the brain is responsible for judgement and control. There doesn't even appear to coincidentally be a verse in the Koran that tells us anything about the human brain. Looks like a few kooks over-interpereted some scattered verses to agree with modern knowledge after-the-fact.
stop palying with logic and the true meanings of the verses. Qur'an is not understood literally but by looking at the deeper meaning that you can never find with you blindness. Looks like I'm f-ed then, no? I have to do something that I cannot do by definition?

Another question... more on topic.
Supposing that there's an impossible amount of modern knowledge in the Quran, how does it follow that God exists?

Again the best weapon for athiests is to doubt in everything even in themselves. Nobody played with the verse because modern copies of Quran did not change (not even by a single letter) from the ancient copies in museams. I'm not arguing that the Koran was copied incorrectly, I'm saying that you're finding meaning in verses that simply isn't there. The forelock verse has probably said the same thing for ages, but I doubt you can find anybody from more than 50 years ago that interpreted it to be a secret revelation from God about neurology.
About coincidence, did all of the many verses come by coincidence? No, they were carefully picked out.

Now it's time for me to call that site's bullshit.
All of the Qurans that I have access to say this in 51:47. "We have built the heaven with might, and We it is Who make the vast extent (thereof)." No mention of expansion. Does the Quran condemn dishonesty?

So i was right when saying that you doubt in every thing even your self. Nope, not even close. A healthy amount of skepticism is much different from "doubt[ing] in every thing even your self."
What can be more blind than seeing the meaning of the verses being interpreted scientifically with our modern science and found to be in accordance with science? What? Can't figure out what you're asking here.

I'm sorry, all science except that that can be used to kill people. Is this sweeping generalization about a whole faith based on a very small group of extremists really warranted?
