Odd... It worked when I previewed it....
Anyway, it is easy to do - just copy and paste in a photo viewer and do what I did. It is glaringly obvious. [This message has been edited by SLPx, 08-19-2003]

All sources are biased. This is true. And you are correct point out that this does not immediately invalidate them as sources. However it does mean that their claims must be judged by how well they are corraborated by other sources, and by physical evidence.
And I wouldnt consider The History of Marion County, Ohio (complied from past accounts, published in 1883) stories or other accounts stories. Why? If they're collections of folklore, why not treat them as such? Especially since the accounts disagree with the majority of evidence? Remember not all folklore is labeled as such. And it's only recently that people have made a distinction between folklore and history. Just because it has the veneer of historicity is no guarantee that it is in fact historical truth.

No scientist Want to Hide evidence! if they made a discovery they Let people Know about it!(your stupid if you don't). Now messenjaH Did you know many Early Discoveries of Dinosaur Bones where mistaken for Giant human Bones? Could this be the source of some of those stories?

I dont know about that. I mean if a scientist works so hard his/her entire life to find evidence for evolution, would he/she throw it away with one bone or one skeleton? Its logical to think of a conspiracy theory, just by looking at how many accounts of findings have been reportedly stolen. Ive heard many testimonies on this sort of "conspiracy" thing and I'm not ready to give it up.

Why would you think settlers would lie or make up discoveries found during their times in the 1800's? I mean they didnt have evolution to carry in the back of their minds.

Could be of course, but many of those stories were findings of skeletons, not of one or two bones

if a scientist found something to Disprove Evolution they would let People know! I mean who wouldn't want to be a famous and respected scientist? Now if these Bones where real it DOESN'T disprove Evolution! Creatures of the same Family can vary alot. Lets take the Rock hyrax one of its closest Relatives is the Elephant and the hyrax is a small creature

Why would you think settlers would lie or make up discoveries found during their times in the 1800's? Because people like a good story, and they didn't have TV? How do any tall tales get started?

It's the counties history, not the town newspaper.

It's the counties history, not the town newspaper. Which was based on what sources? Town newspapers, I bet. And word of mouth, local folklore, and other dubious sources that comprised popular, local histories in the 1800's.
