Sadly, it appears so.
We get the world we create.

Mission accomplished.
Sadly, this is true, for the short term at least. If we can try to force a silver lining, however, with the recall petitions out on the Republicans in the legislature, the all but inevitable recall on Scott Walker, and the fact that people have finally been woken up, they may have pushed Wisconsin into the blue camp for the foreseeable future.

An Old Argument expounded

If so, only by choice. And if that is what they want, it is what they will get.
Yes, jar I think that I remember our old discussions well.
IIRC, i finally agreed that the only road for the middle and lower classes were take to survive in America were to work harder and get educated. Now look!
You say that we got what we wanted.
I am not so sure.
As a voting block, we only looked at short term problems and short term quick fix solutions, even as is the same today.

Which point
If the point of your stance on this thread is that we can all make a difference, it's a good point. If your point is that we often sit on the sidelines when we ought to be out there fighting for what we believe in, it's a good point. If your point is that each and every one of us has the time, ability, resources, and responsibility to make the world exactly what we want it to be, then I think you've overshot the mark.

Re: Which point

The world is as it is because of the choices of everyone who has come before, and everyone who currently is. That's a fact.
Hpwever, the ability for me, for example, to do anything about the plight of our modern society is virtually nil, for the very fact that it would be me versus the uncounted trillions of people who do and have lived.
There are two ways to make large changes, get a large group of people, or get large sums of money. Large groups of people fall prey to differing ultimate goals, and large sums of money are tough to come by. Therefore, the ones who already have large sums of money are the ones driving society while the rest of us are along for the ride, regardless of whether we like the ultimate destination.

True until you change the system.
If you do not change the system then yes, you are just along for the ride.
If that really is the situation, then the thread really is at an end.

Who is "you" in this somewhat simplistic assertion?

We live in the world we create.
Yet most don't feel that they had much say in it's creation at all.
How much say did you have?

The world is as it is. Whether it is as I would chose or not is totally irrelevant. Reality don't much care what I think.
I had lots to say. Unfortunately what I had to say was ignored. But the current state of things was pretty easy to predict, and so I made arrangements that I hope will at least take care of me.
YOU, of course are all of us. Those that feel they "don't feel that they had much say in it's creation at all" are simply wrong. It's pleasant to be able to say "wasn't MY fault", but that also changes very little.

Re: Which point
I don't get it. I live in the same world as you do, and my neighbor Mike, and Lindsey Lohan, among others. What if we all want different worlds? Someone's not going to get the world that they want, even if they're trying their honest best.
Just what is it exactly your saying? Because what it seems like your saying doesn't make much sense, so I suspect you mean something else.

Re: Which point
Well, I guess that clears that up.
Actually, I've gone back and re-read your posts, and I feel a little silly - I thought you were saying that we're supposed to make reality conform to our desires, as in "I wish I had a never ending supply of chocolate". My bad; carry on.
