Also, getting to the rest of the universe is somewhat of a problem at the moment. What? All we have to do to maintain our present growth rate and populate the universe in 3000 yrs is to exceed C by some 4,666,666 times.
The greatest threat I see at the moment is fundamentalism. Fundamentalism is a problem but I don't think that it will wipe us clean off the map.

All we have to do to maintain our present growth rate and populate the universe in 3000 yrs is to exceed C by some 4,666,666 times. Well, there is this little hurdle there--getting to the next star system is a bit beyond our capabilities at the moment. And busting that silly light-speed barrier may take a while as well. It would be handy to have solutions to those problems. I don't doubt that we'll figure a way if given half a chance, but don't wait up.
The greatest threat I see at the moment is fundamentalism. Fundamentalism is a problem but I don't think that it will wipe us clean off the map. I agree. But it doesn't have to wipe us off the map. All it has to do is sap much-needed resources and we're stuck on this rock. Surely you've heard something like "Why are we launching money into space when we have such poverty here. Let's fix that first." This is wrong in so many ways that I won't bother to deal with them at all. You either see it or you don't There was a time not that long ago when we could go to the moon. Before that, just about 50 years ago, we could put astronauts into orbit. At the moment we can't do either! Color me pessimistic.Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.

What's your solution? The First and gratest problem we face is that there is waaaayyyy to many of us. So we need a way to regulate humanitys growth a max of 2 children per couple or as many children as there are adaults getting shacked up (muslims and their multiple wives so 1 male 4 wives =5 children) If something isnt done soon we will grately outgrow our food production capabilities in a matter of years at best decades. The second gratest problem we face is energy oil and coal will run out sooner or later we need an anwser yesterday so our best bet wuld be that each country sets aside a portion of their GDP and invests in renewable energy research and production. the 3d gratest problem we face is ourselves our tanasity to go to ware over trivial things like whoos imaginary friend exsists, or who does a patch of worthless land belong to, or resources that will soon be exsausted. What to do about that well i have an insane and unapliccable idea but it would work every country should have a law that any leader that declares ware should be shot and then his replacment would lead the country in to ware i imagine the world would see a verry long lasting peace. the 4th gratest problem is the way welth is distributed we are basicly back in the feudal age where 99% had almost nothing and 1% had everything else there hasto be some way to regulate this the easiest way would be taxses where if your welth exseeds the world average (exlouding the filthy ritch from the average) your taxes would increase proportonally at number 5 we have ignorance and religion simple tax religius institutions and use the money to educate people. the rest should be simple Christianity, One woman's lie about an affair that got seriously out of hand Jesus was a dead jew on a stick nothing more

Only one solution exists - there are no multiple choice factors.
Go forth Multiply Have dominion of all the worlds. The greater the population; the greater the pollution - the greater chance humanity will see the light.

Go forth Multiply Umm there are 7 billion of us havent we multiplied enough we are running out of fertile land any more of us and we will starve.
Have dominion of all the worlds. Ok buy me the next ticket to the nearest habitable world with our current technology the closest solar system is at least 200 years away. Hell just point me to the nearest launchpad ill buy the ticket myself to get out of this madhouse.
The greater the population; the greater the pollution - the greater chance humanity will see the light. Nope the grater chance we nuke ourselves to oblivion right now the US is waging a ware for OIL, how long till they start waging a ware for food wee need less people not more the population should be braught down to 3 billion max. The greater the population; the greater the pollution - the greater chance humanity will see the light. So we need to hit rock bottom before we realise our mistakes? Makes sense. The above ontological example models the zero premise to BB theory. It does so by applying the relative uniformity assumption that the alleged zero event eventually ontologically progressed from the compressed alleged sub-microscopic chaos to bloom/expand into all of the present observable order, more than it models the Biblical record evidence for the existence of Jehovah, the maximal Biblical god designer. -Attributed to Buzsaw Message 53 Moreover that view is a blatantly anti-relativistic one. I'm rather inclined to think that space being relative to time and time relative to location should make such a naive hankering to pin-point an ultimate origin of anything, an aspiration that is not even wrong. Well, Larni, let's say I much better know what I don't want to say than how exactly say what I do.

Pushing the goal post meets the same brick wall of disaster further up. Slowing the population only delays the assured disaster and looses time which should be spent in acquiring more land - more planets and to make them habitable. The latter needs greater populations to make the task easier.

You do know that not having enough food to feed your population does not equal prosperety and grater advances in science it equals misery a decline in prosperety and a decline in understanding and science just go and take a look at ovepropulation in africa Christianity, One woman's lie about an affair that got seriously out of hand Jesus was a dead jew on a stick nothing more

The quest of humanity with a single aim to acquire new habitations will not have any problems with unemployed or food shortages. Food chain stores will become very important providers and processors of food for the masses. It will be like the gold rush days, everyone and every nation working towards one goal - with guaranteed destruction if the quest fails. Religions will become superfluous. IMHO, this quest will be realized via a great war or via a unified humanu endeavor which will cross over all barriers. Its not a choice factor.

The greater the population; the greater the pollution - the greater chance humanity will see the light. You want to take us to overpopulation to see the "light"? Yeah, tell that to every little starving kid in Somalia and Sudan, and, and, and. The only light they can see is the torch the UN aid workers shine in their faces when they are taken to die in relative dignity all on their own. Religion really is a brain virus. It kills the brain and leaves some people completely distached from reality.

The quest of humanity with a single aim to acquire new habitations will not have any problems with unemployed or food shortages. Because the people working on these new rocets that will take BILLIONS of us in to space dont haveto eat.
. Food chain stores will become very important providers and processors of food for the masses. Um and the food chain stores will get the food from where??? The farms we are going to put up in mid air because we are alredy running out of FERTILE LAND. We alredy are not producing enough food to feed the entire planet if we split all the food we produce now equaly everybody would alredy be hungry (well at least obesety would not be a problem anymore).
It will be like the gold rush days, everyone and every nation working towards one goal - with guaranteed destruction if the quest fails. Yea because we are going to build spaceships as large as the moon and hundreds of them so we will get everyone off the planet that will not exsist anymore because we will use it all up to build the spacehips as large as the moon ..... At best we will be able to take a few 10 thousend off the planet to a new world on a miracle day a few million the billions left behind will still starve
Religions will become superfluous. i cant wait for the day religion becomes redundant not in my lifetime though
this quest will be realized via a great war or via a unified humanu endeavor which will cross over all barriers. A grate ware one that uses nuclear weapons well then we can start from the stoneage again, and a grate human endevor yea thats gonna happen real soon i can alredy see the muslims and the christian holding hands and building spaceships, the palestine and israel will stop all of their hate twords eachother put flowers in their hair throw away their rocket lauchers and the stones they throw at eachother and start building rocketships. My post said religion will become superfluous, yet you mention only prayers, disregarding everything I said. Man on the moon aligns with my premise - not yours?

quote: Rockets will be the least important factor. Many new industries will have to be evelated. Every country will work for and donate what is needed, from scientificallt designed fabrics, shoes which control gravity and temperatures, face mics which give the correct oxygen mix, new materials for dome cities created by chemicals on other planets, agricultural controlled areas, new chemical forms of producing water, greatly reducing time travels, offering modern housing for humans and other life forms, etc, etc. No unemplyment will be seen for the next 1000 years and no shortage of lands. GO FORTH AND MULTIPLY AND HAVE DOMINION OF ALL THE WORLDS. Its not a choice factor and how freeky this situation was anticipated by Genesis! Could you point me to where it says something like this in Genesis?

There are no alternatives applying here. Its do or die. And if our population gorws as it does we will die before we even desighn a craft capable of reaching the nearest habitable planet.
