I must have missed this nugget before: George Romney was an evolution denier? Humph. My personal view is that haranguing someone for their parent's scientific views is ridiculous. It's not like we inherit those things. My own Dad encouraged my to pursue a science/technology education, but my Dad's mom was moon landing denier. I would be pretty amused by an attempt to tar either my Dad or me with my grandma's beliefs. That said, the graduation speech must have been pretty hilarious thing to hear if that wasn't your pa. Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. I was thinking more about the religious teachings than the familial relationship, but whatever.

Both Romney and Obama have completely avoided the topic of religion. There were some new revelations about Obama's former pastor that came out right before the first debate, but Romney seems unwilling to go there or to "let" his supporting PACs go there. Mormonism is full of targets, but nobody wants to go there either.
It's also the case that huge numbers of even Democratic voters are Creationists. There is simply no political hay to make here.Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Both Romney and Obama have completely avoided the topic of religion. Then they must have never visited EvC. hmmmm.wonder if a president has time for such things? And moreover, why does a guy with a hundred million dollar trust fund want to be president? Corporations are not people, any more than flipping houses is the same thing as flipping homes. Homes are people. Houses are money, and materials. In conclusion, politicians talk of throwing money at problems to fix them. Money fixes nothing. Spirit fixes everything. (whoops, that's a religious topic)
There is simply no political hay to make here. What you mean is that there is no religious hay. We have plenty of political hay. We see it as it comes out the other end of the donkey and the elephant. Edited by Phat, : No reason given. Edited by Phat, : just bein funny

What you said used to be true, yes. But in today's politically correct atmosphere, it's the opposite that's true. Only people who are comfortable with the subject enough to joke about it. In my experience, "politically incorrect" more often than not, is used as a cover for spewing xenophobic, homophobic, misogynistic, racist crap. When someone calls you on the spew, you just accuse them of being politically correct. A friend of mine once told me he used to tell a homophobe by their gay jokes. Nowadays, he can tell a homophobe by how much he avoids the subject. One time he attended a social event with his female best friend. An older couple assumed they were together and said to him someone told them he was... they didn't say it they just said "you know". He wanted to press for it so he pretended not to understand and asked them what they meant. They eventually said quietly as if it was a bad thing that someone told them he was gay. I've also talked to my black friends what they think about this matter and they all told me they don't have a problem with people who say black or other words that white people think are racist words. They only have a problem with people who go over the top trying to avoid appearing like a racist, because that look like they're over-compensating.

(Romnesia image) I don't think Obama's "Romnesia speech" has been posted here. So how about now:
Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

What you said used to be true, yes. But in today's politically correct atmosphere, it's the opposite that's true. Only people who are comfortable with the subject enough to joke about it. I don't accept that as true. Your instructions to onifre to love it or leave it simply were not funny. I'm accepting that you were just joking because you say that you were. But I didn't see anything funny in your original post. And of course you know what people say about people who brag about their black friends.Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. I know what I said was politically incorrect, but if he dislikes our system so much, why is he even here? Well one reason is that I was born here in the US. Not every spanish speaking person is an immigrant you know. Also I served in the military, have children here, pay taxes, worked for a union as an electrician for 10 years and I'm a registered voter. I can dislike the system all I fucking want.
My question is why do comedians get a free pass for being assholes and yet the moment I made a politically incorrect joke I get a shitload of negatives?
Free pass? Poor Gilbert Gottfried is out of a job from Aflac just for a tweet! Tracy Morgan got shit on for a joke he did and had to apologize. And me, I get a shitload of Jeers everytime I call crashfrog a cunt. There are no free passes for comics dude. Now, make sure you get your ass to a gym fatty and stop worrying about comedians. It's no wonder you're so grotesque. - Oni

Of course it wasn't funny. That's the point. The conversation was between me and him, not me and you. He says he's a comedian. He's made jabs at me many times thinking they were funny but I never thought they were funny. So, this is my jab back at him. You then come barging in here as if you're this wise old man who knows everything about this. I don't accept that as true. Your instructions to onifre to love it or leave it simply were not funny Let me ask you something. If 2 black guys call each other niggas out in the street, do you just walk right in between them and tell them to stop hating themselves? You've no context to work with this from. This is between me and that latino comedian. If you don't understand the background, then back the fuck off. Both he and I make tasteless jokes at each other. Deal with it.
And of course you know what people say about people who brag about their black friends.
Funny you should say this, because at the moment I've no black friends. The black friends I told you about have all moved on and we haven't talked for at least a year. Edited by Taz, : No reason given.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. How the hell is Romney tied with Obama in the polls? I don't get it. Do Americans honestly have this short of an attention span?

The answer is YES.
I remember back in 2008 that I kept on hearing predictions that who ever got elected would be a 1 term president, because they would be blamed for the economic mess we were in.

I saw the beginning and the end only so far. I think Obama did a swell job. Romney came off as a jackass, as usual.Love your enemies!

He says he's a comedian. You called me a comedian. Now it's I say I'm a comedian? I don't like where this is going...
He's made jabs at me many times thinking they were funny but I never thought they were funny. Never? Now you're just being mean.
This is between me and that latino comedian. ...between that latino comedian and I. - Oni
