Re: pop quiz.
Why don't you ask women who don't wear makeup, don't dress in style, and don't pay attention to their hairstyle and find out how much attention they get from men, or how likely it is they get hired for a high-powered job, let's say?
Hm. Well my gf doesn't wear makeup, doesn't dress in style, and doesn't pay much attention to hair styles (though obviously she doesn't let it look bad), and she gets plenty of attention. She also has armpit hair that shows and does not shave her legs.
Your clues about men are simply clueless.
That's why a man's head will snap around if he sees a well-dressed, stacked, nicely coiffed, well-put together woman if she walks by and won't look twice at the women who aren't.
I think most people will look at anyone who has obviously worked to put on a display. That does not mean they will always enjoy it. Personally I like girls with little or no makeup and not much in the way of a hairstyle, unless that style is almost no hair.
My guess is you ain't rubbernecking on men that look like they flip burgers for a living, unless its in case they are going to attack you.

and even now i'm reasonably 'hot'
If that pic was really of you graduating then you are hot.
i don't get talked to, guys aren't interested in me. people treat girls with large breasts like they are freaks and whores.
Guys do like big breasted women. Just as guys like small breasted women. The average ideal goes back and forth, and any particular man will have his own preferences. I can go both ways.
If guys seem standoffish then it is not because of your breasts. I guess some guys may feel intimidated in that you have more to offer than they might, or assume you must have tons of guys already, but that is it.
i can't tell you how many guys have told me they prefer them smaller.
Trust me I know plenty of them that like 'em larger. I have heard the addage by some guys (that like em in between) that more than a handful is a waste. But then the response by others is that's why you have two hands and a mouth.
Other than this disagreement, I agree with everything else you said.

my 95lb friend doesn't wear makeup (except for pictures), doesn't dress in style, doesn't pay much attention to her hair style, and gets hit on all the time.
same with most of the girls i know who don't pay much attention to those things.
HAHAHAHA!
Men care, believe me. That's why a man's head will snap around if he sees a well-dressed, stacked, nicely coiffed, well-put together woman if she walks by and won't look twice at the women who aren't.
a man's head will snap around if he sees a poorly-dressed, poorly put-together wearing no makeup too. believe me, i have friends who've been known to cause car accidents.
so no, men don't care. i can't believe you're even debating this with me. i'm a man. i don't care. other men here are voicing very similar opinions. tell me, as a woman, what can you possibly know about what men are thinking about?
here, i'll lay it down, nice and simple. men aren't hard to understand. we look at women's bodies. all of it, generally. our attention is held by shape, posture, movement, and skin. makeup and clothing don't have much to do with it. women look sexiest to us when they are comfortable, in comfortable clothes and shoes. makeup is generally an undesired feature ("what is she hiding?"). personally, i find makeup unattractive.

everything tastes the same and half the food out there is italian and there's nothing new and not enough vegetables and it's all too expensive. food is very boring.
speaking of which, i really wanna try that vietnamese restaurant sometime. you game?
the media is not an information source. it's an entertainment entity. if people wanted to see ordinary people, then the media would show it. but people don't want ordinary. if they did, they could walk outside. the tv is a fantasy box. its characters are fantastic and so is everything else on it. people want to buy fantasy and sensation precisely because it's NOT ordinary. and the media (being a capitalist venture) sells people what they want to buy.
thank god someone said it.
little boobs are way in. just go into a store and try to find a bra made by a well-known name in any size larger than c.
on the same token, dresses seem to be made with larger boobs sizes in mind. i went out with peppy today, and she saw this dress in a window. went in to try it on, but decided she didn't have the boobs to fill it out.
i think our problem is with the fashion industry, not playboy.
she ate healthily and exercised all the time and was still big. she felt great about herself.
excercise is cathartic. it makes people feel good. sit around all day, and you'll be depressed. excercise is good -- part of the problem is that we don't move enough. we sit here at our computers. we sit in the car. we sit in the movies. we sit at the couch. no wonder the only thing we develop are asses.

Re: Just for you Schraf!
but the truth is that a woman who doesn't dress well will not be promoted in a job, or even hired.
yes. people who dress badly like slobs tend to leave a poor impression at job interviews.
Part of "dressing well" is the right nails, hair, skin, makeup, and body shape.
do yourself a huge favor, and watch "what not to wear" on tlc sometime. they routinely dress people with funny body shapes in good clothes, and every one of them pulls it off. body shape has NOTHING to do with dressing well.

the real culprit here
let's talk some sense for a second.
  1. playboy is marketed to men. in fact pretty stricly to men. any impact on women has to be indirect, men to women. shcraf is basically arguing that men expect certain things of women, and the men in this thread (as well as some women, i suspect) are demonstrating that's pretty much not true. this appears to be the feminist philosophy of "blame men for your problems; everything in society is their fault anyways."
  2. playboy's ceo is... a woman. that's right, playboy is run by christie hefner, not hugh. got that? if playboy's to blame for setting the image standard, blame the WOMAN in charge.
  3. playboy, evidently, does NOT set the image standard, as demonstrated by kate winslet. and probably my 95lb friend, who you will probably never see the likes of in playboy.
  4. there is a media much more directed to women specifically, which is all about how to dress and act (in bed) to please men. it stands to reason that this media would be much more to blame for poor self-image than anything else. so let's take a look, shall we?
contrary to what the cover might lead you to believe, women don't read cosmo to find out what men are thinking. rather, men read cosmo to find out the hell our girlfriends are thinking.
and let me tell you, we are appalled.

i'm just trying to demonstrate, though, that the idea that many have that big boobs will change the world is a flaming pile of poo.

If you're seeing the makeup then you're looking at a woman who doesn't know how to apply it. What you're thinking of as "no makeup" actually represents a fair amount of makeup. This is what you learn if you do any serious textbook study into makeup.

i know. the major principle of makeup is that it shouldn't be noticeable.
however, i am a photographer, and an artist. my major skill is looking at things. i notice makeup where other people might not. what i'm thinking of as "no makeup" is very, very little to no makeup.

Re: Just for you Schraf!
Look, I once dropped 250 for an iPod Mini. Did I need one? Probably not; objectively there are better MP3 players out there. Probably I was influenced by how cool people think they are.
But I bought one anyway; it was my money to spend on what I pleased.
These women wanted something. So long as they were appraised of the risks and chose to do it anyway, who are any of you to second-guess them? Freedom means that some people are going to do things you think are stupid or risky. Vagina reduction surgery? Yeah, people should be satisfied with the body that they have. But that doesn't always work for everybody. Nobody compelled these women to have surgery; a few rude remarks don't make your free will evaporate.

I'm just saying that that pic was a pretty good counterargument, an educated woman with bog boobs apparently might change the world... no?
Perhaps you'll have to give more demonstrations.
