How do you guys who visit other forums deal with particularly stupid, ignorant but stubborn creationists?
I belong to a forum with a variety of topics for discussion. I found my way to the creation vs. evolution discussion and discovered that it was dominated by creationists who were reinforcing each other's scientific inaccuracies, and refusing to listen to any visiting evolutionist -- who quickly realised they were wasting their time, and left. I stayed a little longer because I had time on my hands and wanted to correct the scientific inaccuracies for the record. That's why I originally came here -- I was cribbing info.
We just chase each other around in circles though. I think it's a matter of what people are open to; and if they are not open to what you are saying, then it doesn't matter whether it's true or false, they won't listen. Typical strategies there are regurgiposting PRATTs, refusal to engage with facts, plagiarising from creo websites, and endlessly repeating strawman arguments such as, "evolutionists believe rocks turn into humans." The list owner also likes to post threads on creo topics, e.g. "news" from Hovind's website (currently being run by his son), and then locking them so that no one can be an irritation by refuting them.
It's become a bit of amusement for me, since I think we're just essentially butting heads and not really getting anywhere. RAZD has been visitng though and blinding them with science. They can't deal LOL, so they more or less dismiss it as "all lies" and insult him. My favourite so far is that he and I are "trying to look smart."

i find this interesting. because all biological matter is composed of the same base elements as what many call "rocks". i believe under the right conditions, it may be possible for rocks to become biological matter.
i am however, a creationist. i believe science is the "how" of God, and that no science proves him wrong, but only proves he is.
I find this interesting too. Have you elaborated on these ideas in another thread?

I'd have to say, see RAZD's definition of cognitive dissonance. If they are unwilling to change their beliefs in the light of new evidence, then they have to find a way to protect those beliefs for themselves. I don't think I'd call this moronic -- more accurately, perhaps, irrational behaviour. And very human behaviour at that, LOL. I've witnessed it both ways, also from hardnosed skeptics who refuse to consider any new ideas that threaten their own world view.
