arguing with willowtree
sorry, brenna stole my login cookie again.
See, folks, in Willow / Ray's own strange version of reality, he thinks he won that one. I recommend that thread to anyone interested in debating Ray / Willowtree / Herepton
hey dt, remember this one? it's a classic.
http://EvC Forum: lack of evidence
i challenged willowtree to a great debate, based simply on showing evidence. he made the "footlocker" claim regarding transitional hominids, and complained that this was given a "sweatheart pass" while the exodus from egypt was rejected on grounds of lack of evidence. the challenge was that we take turns posting pictures of evidence -- i post a picture of a fossil hominid, he posts a picture of something hebrew from egypt. first one to not be able to post a picture loses.
btw -- this challenge still stands, and i'm three ahead.
this post was also kinda funny:
quote:
I concede all points to Arach.
Read my words: I concede all points to Arach.
the rest of it's just basically a rant against me, darwinists, evolutionists, etc. it's got some pretty harsh words, that well, come off pretty funny.

Re: Another attempt at agreement
How many limbs does a human have?
How many limbs does a bird have?
How many limbs does a reptile have? (Even snakes have the vestigal skeletal structures of limbs.)
What does the word "quadruped" mean? If you're not talking about birds, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals, then what organisms are you talking about with this term?
the word you're looking for is "tetrapod."
tetrapods are all animals that have four limbs, other than prehensile extensions of the spinal column. quadrupeds are animals that WALK on four legs. humans are bipeds, not quadrupeds. technically, the two literally mean the same thing, "four feet." but they are used differently (even in scientific context).

Re: Another attempt at agreement
And Crashfrog didn't know this ?
no, apparently not. that was i replied, to which he said "interesting, thank you."
This is why I referred to his initial reply as "absurd nonsense"
well, to be honest, hurling more absurd nonsense (and enraged attacks) back at him isn't going to help explain your position, nor is it an "attempt at agreement."

great scott!

Re: Is this a creationist list of kinds?
Macro-kinds:
Mankind
Birds
Quadrupeds
Reptiles (includes snakes)
Fish
source: the Bible.
book, chapter, and verse where these are specifically laid out? (edit: i would also like to remind you that the bible is not considered a valid source for the science fora anymore than dawkins is a valid source in the religious fora)

Re: Is this a creationist list of kinds?
One such place is Romans 1:23
quote:
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
paul seems to have forgotten fish. funny though, i would have thought you would have used genesis's list:
  • grass, herb yeilding seed, fruit trees (1.11)
  • sea serpents or "whales," birds (everything that lives in the water or air, 1.21)
  • beasts of the earth, cattle, creeping things (everything that lives on land, 1.25)
  • man (1.27)
but then again, i'm just an enraged darwinist, what do i know about the bible?
But I will not talk about it here until my paper is released in March or April.
uh huh.
Predictable Darwinian opinion.
enraged fundamentalist rant.
