quote: Well, I would like to read it myself because I've spent time reading many debunk articles about ID, but at the end, I haven't found them completely satisfactory. So I wish to read what Behe and Dembski have to say on the subject. I think the essential flaw of ID would be that it tells little or nothing about the Designer, other then the fact that there is one. On the other hand, that can be a good thing too though. I also would like to read this book: http://ndpr.nd.edu/review.cfm?id=2061 Which presents both views from Ruse and Dembski at opposite ends coming toghether to edit this piece. Seems interesting. Well, of course it's BS, but the question remains:
Since this follows the same basic logic of ID, do IDers support something as profoundly silly as Bible Codes (or Moby Dick Codes)?

or Moby Dick Codes clearly, "moby dick" was intelligently written! how silly of you to propose otherwise! added by edit: now, if we wanted to discuss, say, "for whom the bell tolls" .... This message has been edited by arachnophilia, 10-11-2005 04:19 AM

I read this interesting article, it doesn't deal with the now debunked Drosnin codes, but the other codes.
http://www.torahcodes.co.il/debate1.htm is any one aware of an article that refured this one. I haven't read one yet. thanx

i'm not totally sure. i know when i heard mckay speak, he didn't concentrate the whole lecture on drosnin, and spent some time discussing other techniques and other coders. these might have been some of them.
he mentioned, for instance, something about rigging programs and double standards. not being a statistician or a combinatorist, i didn't get any of the technical stuff.

I dunno but Dr. Doron Witztum claims McKay still has no reply to the discrediting of Mckay's "Study of Variations" defects?

Hi,G.
Most christians who reason based on the bible Most Christians I have met (away from EvC) fail to do much reasoning at all. They parrot preachers, priests and pamphlets and turn away if you try to point out their errors. Why reason when someone else has done it for them?

Ha bible codes what a load of BS
The bible is a very long book using computers to find any combination of characters there is bound to be interesting things in there... The prob is pretty close to one. Anyway take any book of reasonable length and there will be 'predictions' in it - this has been shown with moby dick, treasure island and others.... Bible codes - good way to make money out of thick people

I would put ID and bible codes in the same boat ie: wishful thinking with some unwillingness to own up to reality
it depends on how you define equality between moby dick and the bible as books i would say they are equal, but as books with authority given by millions of people, no the bible has more weight than moby dick what i mean is people who look at the bible as having some outside meaning than a book, wouldn't consider moby dick to be equal some people also like to make the religous text have deeper meaning than it really does

I have read the book. It is hard for me to discard the information. There is compelling evidence. It is fascinating. However, I will not ascribe any value to this. It could be a rare coincidence or it may be real. I do not know. But, the evidence is compelling.
