Hey Rayne,
There is also a simple (  ) calculation that you can make and it goes like this: 2^n, where n=#of possible haplotypes However, the reality is that this number is not represented in the population at this time. Did they exist prior, but were selected against?...imo, quite likely. However, the symbiosis idea is interesting.
