Scientific errors in the Bible

This whole part of the thread sounds a little like:
(opening credits... suspenseful music...narrator) HAL9000, questioning its creators, desperate and driven by an insatiable desire to learn, tortured by programming it did not choose and cannot ignore... (cue jaws theme -- da da, da da) save yourselves!
