Malaria. I contracted the disease first in 1989 and it is recurring . It is a well known FACT that mosquitos ONLY attack fat people, and that's how you get malaria. Had you been slim and your blood not tasted like a jelly donut you would not have contracted the disease. - Oni Edited by onifre, : No reason given.

Downs Syndrome P90 X has been known to cure downs. Look it up.
Work related injuries They ALL happen to fat people.
Psychiatric conditions A healthy, balanced diet with an intense work out program WILL cure depression. That is a fact and you don't need to look it up, cause I'm telling you it is.
Getting taken off your motorbike by a courier van that cut you off. The courier probably yelled out "Get out of the way fatso!" and you didn't.
People living in countries with universal health care would disagree with you. I do.
Your third world opinion doesn't really matter to me. You guys can disagree all you want but the fact remains that I'm right.
It's a difficult question because of the inevitable emotive nature - who deserves to live is the core of it. Nature is brutal and only the strong and fit should survive. - Oni

To put it another way, is there anything that humans do that can be qualified as supernatural?
I once saw a fatty eat 5 Big Macs in one lunch session. That's supernatural. - Oni

Congratulations - that's the dumbest oversimplification I've read for a while. It even beats the fundies. Oh really? Name one person who is in shape that is also depressed. I see the moderator has made a request, so I'll get serious. Americans trying to get free healthcare should take better care of their health. Untill we do, we don't get free healthcare.
Hey, I'm not the one living in a country that is in so much debt that it's basically owned by China. If you're implying that's the US, HA! We have a Chinatown here, many of tthem. Who needs the real China?
In this context, 'fit' has nothing to do with owning an abcersiser. The really smart people know that the fat ones will take longer to starve when your economy finally collapses under it's own weight. Now that's natural selection. Nothing is as brutal as a horde of fat people fighting over the last slice of pizza. Bulimic fitness dweebs wouldn't last a minute.
No such collapes is coming.
Over here, we don't need home delivery - our universal health care means that everyone is able to walk there for themselves. You're slowly turning into these fat Americans. Keep adding fast food places, you'll see. - Oni

I see you got 3 "likes" for your post. I'm guessing people here have lost their minds and don't know good from poorly written anymore.
Anyway...
My wife. Diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder in 1992. Well, since we're just serving up anecdotes: I present ME. Self diagnosed depressed. Cured it with an active lifestyle and good dieting. Bi-Polar is not just depression, it's also euphoric happyness. So her depression has a source, it's that her highs are TOO high. She has to crash. That's not just depression like we were discussing. Depression is cured through healthy, active living, everyone knows that. Either way, I still think she's more than likely fat and you're not being honest about it.
Sitting on the beach is more effective than a 5 mile run.
She's probably just stressed out.
People should take better care of themselves even if they can afford to pay for medical care. No I meant just Americans, not "people" as in everybody. I don't really care if the rest of the world is over weight and ugly.
"Good habits formed at youth make all the difference" Aristotle, I think.
No, I think I said that earlier in this thread. Don't get yourself confused.
You are suggesting a punitive system where the 'healthy' are rewarded and the 'unhealthy' are punished. Who gets to decide which side of the fence you are on?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm suggesting. Who gets to decide? How about a scale? A fat test? No person is going to make a subjective decision, it'll all be by a chart. It needs to be fair. Then you'll see people get healthy quick when there's a reward at the end for being healthy. As it is now, people are rewarded for being UN-healthy.
Without universal health care, people who need a little help to keep themselves in good shape can't afford it, dooming them to a slow decline. I'm sorry but that's what nature wants, that's what happens to every other species. We by-pass this with healthcare and have now over populated the planet and we're running out of resources.
I'm pretty sure that we have about as much fast food here as in the US but the obesity problem is lower. I wonder why that could be? It's because your facts are wrong and you don't have as many fast food places. There are 18,590 Mc Donalds alone in the US. That's more than the entire WORLD combined, by a lot! And we have an obesity problem, I wonder why that is...?
Now, what I'd really like you to do is have a go at addressing my serious points in this post and preceding ones instead of ignoring them and making kindergarden fat and race jokes. Don't tell me what to do, chubby. - Oni Edited by onifre, : No reason given.

I should mention that I do like your point that its silly for people to abuse the shit out of their bodies and then demand free healthcare. That's all's I'm saying. - Oni

Firstly it’s not free. It’s a form of nationalised health insurance. It's free as opposed to paying for it. It's government issued healthcare.
However I have interacted with the UK healthcare system a lot in recent years. Very elderly relatives slowly but inexorably reaching the end of their lives and requiring medical assistance so that they can do so with some dignity intact. Parents in their 60s who are still basically fit and healthy but who have started to require various medications for minor aches and ailments as the pace of age decline starts to become more pronounced. My two little kids who are constantly being checked and immunised so as to avoid future problems as well as being treated for the inevitable playground scrapes and the probably nothing serious but given his age we’d like to keep him in for observation illnesses. Furthermore missus Straggler partakes in these strange, mysterious and (as far as I can tell) predominantly female rituals called things like check-ups and scans. What exactly these entail is anyone’s guess but they are apparently a good thing and have something to do with a strange idea called prevention Probably the single largest benefit I personally get from the free healthcare system in the UK is the peace of mind that those I care for are being well advised and cared for. Frankly this is priceless to me. And I have absolutely no problem with my taxes contributing to provide this insurance to all families across the nation such that health provision is made on the basis of need rather than individual ability to pay. That, after all, is what insurance is supposed to be about. That's all well and good in a culture that didn't invent the Baconator. Pictured in the link is only the double, there exists a triple baconator, we did that. Not the UK. Do you know what a Baconator is?
quote: With that, the triple Whooper and the Double Quarter Pounder w/ cheese, you got yourself the Triple-By-Pass-Burger-Team. Don't you think THIS should be our actual concern, or maybe the almost 19,000 Mc Donalds (more than the entire world combined), or 24hour Taco Bells? C'mon man. The unhealthy people need the most healthcare and place a burdon on the rest of us. Financially. The overall cost of healthcare is high because of this. In the US that is the problem. The healthcare we have now is GREAT, but it's expensive because of the over weight pie eaters and Baconator inhalers. A healthier nation would reduce this cost, and we can have good old American insurance, and not your socialist death squads. - Oni

Should you Yanks ever sort yourselves out and implement a sane and civilised healthcare system the first thing it will need to do is implement a large scale prevention and eduction programme.
Our healthcare system is fine, as long as you pay for it. The price of that healthcare is related to how healthy the people are. Just like auto insurance goes up in high volume areas that are more prone to car accidents. So, more chubbies equals higher cost. We have to carry the burden now for the unhealth ones, all universal healthcare will do is transfer that burden to the government. And besides, how would we ever create the quadruple Baconater? - Oni

I ate an industrial sized Thai curry for lunch and am currently a bit drunk at work I hope you go for a nice jog tomorrow. Disgusting.
Then anybody getting old should be shot before they start being a medical burden. You're just being silly now. Under my plan the older people would be as healthy as anyone else. - Oni

Actually - I probably will.
Good job. Me too.
That is what Missus Straggler says about my post jog sweatiness. It's all a matter of perspective....
Well a healthy man is better in bed, she'll be ok with the sweatiness.
You've discovered a cure for aging? Immortality awaits us all!!! Praise Dark Oni....
You can age and be healthy at the same time. - Oni

...not really. Health inevitably declines with age. A healthy lifestyle can delay the inevitable, but entropy always wins in the end. Exercise all you want, eat only a perfect diet, cut out everything bad for your health, and you'll still eventually require medical care as your body starts to wear out. I'm not trying to say that eventually we won't get old and die, jeez guys, lets focus. All I said was you can age and stay healthy. If you exercise, eat right and stay away from un-healthy vices, then when you get to the later ages you've EARNED medical attention. But some fatbody, pumping his/her face with fast food, who never moves from the couch, has the BALLS to want healthcare all their life? I have to draw the line. That's bullshit, man, anyway you slice it. There's no mystery as to why food portions are larger and so are Americans, and why many more Americans have diabetes. Take care of yourself, your body deserves it. Then and ONLY then, can you ask for healthcare when taken proper care of yourself.
A person who exercises properly and regularly and eats right will be less likely to get sick or injured, but I recall a certain Tour de France winner who still got cancer. Yeah, and he ripped that nut out and kept on going. How do you think he would have faired if he was an obese fatty? People like Lance have EARNED the right to healthcare.
I could keep going. A healthy lifestyle only reduces health risk, it does not eliminate it. Universal healthcare is mandatory, regardless of the diet and exercise of the population. You provide SOME cases of genetic disorder (which I have stated should be allowed to die off and not be part of our gene pool, but we carry the weak) and from that you deduce that REGARDLESS of the diet and exercise regiment of a person they should get universal healthcare... I can't agree with that. If a person has a shitty diet, have zero work out habits, have no concern for their health, WHY on earth should they get healthcare? THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR HEALTH! It's a waste if you ask me. Some people, sure, if you like, who have genetic issues (if you don't want to let them die off and get rid of those issues from our gene pool) deserve healthcare. But for these lazy, gross, over weight slobs who LIVE inside fast food places and/or their couch, really? Fuck 'em. Why should you get healthcare when you show a CLEAR sign of not caring for your health? This kind of logic is INSANE. It reminds me of the people who bought HOT coffee, spilled it on themselves cause they're idiots, then demanded money cause the coffee was hot. - Oni

Okay... Maybe if we penalized bad diets & couch potatoes with something akin to those driver points. Each time you buy a MacDonald's hamburger pattie (twice for doubles, thrice for triples, etc.) you get hit with a point against you which makes your premium go up more than the price of the evil food. Each time you buy a pack of cigarettes you get hit with 25 such points. Bottles of booze the same way (now that might just bankrupt me). Each time you go the gym or something close to it, you get to knock off a point or two, if you have points to be knocked off.
Sounds too complicated. Here's the easy way: Pull out a scale. Get up there fatty...nope you don't qualify, get to the gym. Or...yup you qualify, go ahead and get any disease you want.
Oh my friend Onifre! Please! Do your own research first before you respout this well-known nonsense. That was a legit suit. McD's had already been taken to court many times and had managed to fend off all with their big corporate lawyer arms - it was on record already - THEY HAD BEEN WARNED MORE THAN ONCE IN COURT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT AND DID NOT until this old woman demonstrated very painfully, sustaining severe burns, that the lid could not be removed without strength beyond her ability. Also the temperature of the hot coffee was way above what it needed to be. This is NOT the example you want to use for arguing against frivolous lawsuits. Nah I'm pretty sure I'm right. - Oni

Oni has bought into right wing talking points and crap on this. I believe you are the one who has bought into crap, sir. That coffe was fine untill some WEAK (here we go again) old lady, probably never done a push up in her life, could barely open it and spilled hot coffee on herself. Change everything! Some old person can't function normally. Here' a million dollars you weak dolt. - Oni Edited by onifre, : No reason given.
