Orrin Hatch on Merrick Garland
I thought that it was a Mitch McConnell statement, which apparently caused problems in tracking it down.

Source is Breitbart! - I think this is the only time I have ever been to that site. The article struck me as being remarkably sane considering the Brieitbart reputation.

Said Orrin Hatch:

quote:
The President told me several times hes going to name a moderate [to fill the court vacancy], but I dont believe him, Hatch told us.

[Obama] could easily name Merrick Garland, who is a fine man, he told us, referring to the more centrist chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia who was considered and passed over for the two previous high court vacancies.

But, Hatch quickly added, He probably wont do that because this appointment is about the election. So Im pretty sure hell name someone the [liberal Democratic base] wants.

If the ***** wanted the support of the Democrats, he too could have nominated Garland, a man Orrin Hatch holds in high esteem. But then, maybe Hatch is a RINO.

Re: Orrin Hatch on Merrick Garland
The democrats have lost out this time, and the Republicans have successfully stolen a seat on the Supreme Court. The democrat's strategy must be to get their house in order prior to the 2018 and 2020 elections so that they have some hope of exacting revenge prior to the time to select the next Justice.

Hopefully, Trump will keep making a buffoon out of himself for the next year or three.
