Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth are passed away.
According to Revelation 20 and 21 there will be a messianic kingdom for 1000 years shortly when Satan is chained in the bottomless pit. It will be utopia on earth. After the 1000 years Satan will be loosed again for an unstated time and rebellion will come against Messiah's kingdom. Satan and his angels will then be cast into the lake of fire. The earth and heavens pertaining to it will be burned up. (imo, likely our galaxy, The Milky Way) There will be new heavens, new earth and a New Jerusalem where the pearly gates and streets of gold, etc will be.
Perhaps the demise of the Milky Way phenomena relates to this prophecy.
