nor should you. salvation is not measured in years nor the maturity of knowledge and understanding. i know people who move their birthday.

i can't say that i was quite alive before i became a christian.. but that's cause i was three an i wasn't really sentient until this year or something. but i would not be willing to discount all the knowledge or experience i had gained prior had i become a christian at an older age.

i was referring to the christian cross not the hindu cross, and you know that. So was I. I'm sorry, were you under the impression that the crux gammata originated in Hindu cultures? It's a Christian symbol as well, you know. It's a cross. Just, a different kind of cross, like the Cross of Lorraine or the cross of the Russion Orthodox church. All Christian crosses, just different kinds of Christian crosses.

The swastika is a cross. It's also known as the "crux gammata", the "sun cross", and the "cross cramponny". The Germans called it the "hakenkreuz": "hooked cross." the swastika is not a cross -- although the similarity of symbols was intentional. the swastika is an indian symbol, and its name comes from sanskrit. you know this, crash. what's why one of the popular motifs of german underground propaganda was jesus on or carrying a swastika -- saying that this does not represent jesus, but the oppressors. nazism looked up to the roman empire under ceasar, not the holy roman empire under constantine. something being SOLD a particular way does not make it fact. the swastika is not a cross -- although the similarity of symbols was intentional. the swastika is an indian symbol, and its name comes from sanskrit. you know this, crash. I know that the word swastika comes from sanskrit, and basically means "small lucky thing", but the symbol itself is nearly universal among the iconography of all cultures. Among those different cultures, which invented the same symbol individually, the symbol went under several different names, but is almost universally referred to as a cross. For instance, the "crux gammata". What do you think that means? "Cross of gammas", referring to how each arm looks like the letter gamma. Hitler chose the symbol he did, and borrowed the word swastika from Hindi, because his Aryan philosophy venerated the Indian Vedics. But the symbol is not by any means unique to Hindu culture, nor is it unknown among Christian iconography, having been an auspicious or significant symbol in every culture in which it has arisen. In time, the symbol aquired the meaning it has to this day - the very unauspicious association with Nazis. Hence your example of it in your underground literature. But that was some time in coming. Just as alternative crosses have been used to reference Christianity, the crux gammata has filled that role in the past, as well.

My high school English teacher once told me that she thought one of the nazis' most unrecognized crimes was to ruin the image of symbol.

I said "unrecognized" crime. Since when were the crimes you spoke of unrecognized?
